Soulgasm, Hawaii’s monthly House, Funk, and Soul event, teams up with Tokyo’s “Culture” parties to present a special night of art, poetry, fashion, dance, and music.
The dance comes by way of the Elite Force crew. Members Brooklyn Terry and Bobby Mileage will be throwing down on the dancefloor. Brooklyn Terry will also be throwing down on the 1s and 2s with a special DJ set.
Alongside of that, they’ll be showcasing fashions from their clothing lines: Brooklyn Bombers and Mileage High Club. Also displaying in a special fashion show is Dork Glasses.
The event will be hosted by poet and recording artist Oveous Maximus, who’s been featured on Def Poetry Jam, Showtime at the Apollo, and a track with Lupe Fiasco. Alongside Oveous, Travis T, Jocelyn Ng, and Bridget Gray will be performing poetry throughout the night.
On the music front, DJ DZ from japan will be on hand to spin out some tracks with Spanish singer/songwriter Laura Estrada. DJs Matt Kee, Kentaro, and Bumblebee will be throwing down on the decks all night.
In the art side, there’s a Nature and Technology theme featuring pieces from Grant and Grim, Art One, Feijao, and Prime.
This massive show goes down this Friday in Chinatown at Next Door (43 Hotel St.). The doors open at 9pm for the art gallery, with the rest fo the festivities going down at 930pm. Partygoers 19+ are invited to this event, with pre-sale tickets available at Limited Addiction, Prototype, Dig Lifestyles, and Stylus Music and Fashion.
