    Farewell to DJ Skid

An era of Hawaii Hip-Hop is coming to an end.

The current Kings of Hawaii Hip-Hop, the AudibleLabRats, will be performing for the final time (in their current incarnation) at a special event at Tropics Cafe this Saturday night.

DJ Skid will be moving to LA to pursue other opportunities and will be leaving behind a legacy of owning the Hawaii scene for the past couple of years.  But, before he goes, the Siq Records fam will send him off properly.

The event will also feature special 30 minute DJ sets from Hawaii’s top DJs, including Revise, Careless1, Packo, Jahson the 45 Revolver and the man himself, DJ Skid.

Plus, who knows what else will go on?

The celebration starts at 930pm and there’s no cover, so everyone over 18 is invited to come down and say thank you to ALR for all that they’ve done for Hawaii’s scene.

For more information, check out Siq Records.

This is it, a celebration for the hardest working record label in Hawaii, Siq Records.

And they’re gonna celebrate big, with a massive event going down this Saturday night at Lotus Soundbar.  An epic six hours of nonstop music from everyone on the Siq Records roster, and many special guests.

Also, along for the ride will be DJs Revise and Revolver on the 1200s and a live art session with groundUP Pirates, Stanstill and RZone.

There’s also gonna be tons of giveaways from Siq Records, Scrap Yard, Hawaiian Hydroponics and Prototype.

All this goes down this Saturday night at the Lotus Soundbar.  The party is 21+, so leave the kids at home for this one.  Live art goes down at 8pm, with the live music starting at 9pm and won’t stop for the next six hours.  $10 at the door and the first 100 through the door will get a free Siq Records album.

    SIQ Records take over Indigo

Siq Records will be taking over the Indigo Restarant for one night, this Saturday, April 12th.

And they’ll be bringing the heat, as Na Hoku and Hawaii Music Award nominee Creed Chameleon will be performing selected cuts from his critically acclaimed “Love Potion Cyanide.” Creed always brings it, so that’s enough for a dope show…

    … but wait, there’s more.

Also performing is the Japan 2003 BBoy Park Champion, Meiso. I saw Meiso perform for the first time at the last Next Movement and that was definitely ill, so this one is not to be missed as well.

To round things out, the always dope live band The Spacifics will be covering the whole area with a wall of sound not seen since the heyday of underground jazz clubs. Yeah, they’re that good.

All this goodness goes down this Saturday night at Indigo on Nuuanu Avenue. This one is 21+, so tell the kids to stay home. Doors open at 9pm and it’s $7 to get inside, but definitely bring more than that if you want to experience the award winning drinks found at Indigo.

Jonah the Whale album now available

After a successful string of debut performances, Jonah the Whale’s new ablum “Friend or Foe” is now available.

There’s a couple ways you can get your hands on it: listen to it stream free over at Siq Records website; buy it directly from Siq Records; or, if you happen to be out at a show, but it directly from the Siq Records merch table.  The one advantage of buying it from the Siq Records website is the ability to buy it digitally or physically.  Extra bonus for the fact that it’s free shipping.

The performance at Next Movement was pretty ridiculous, so this album will definitely knock.

    Go get it.
