Thanks to some extra special love from Kenta & the SIQ Records crew, atypicalLIVING got to check out the always exciting Shing02. The night was full of good people, good vibes & a bunch of music loving peoples.
Although we weren’t able to head down there due to family commitments, atypicalLIVING Creative Partner @redx105 got the shots for us.
From the looks of it, the show looked mighty entertaining.
This one goes out to the homie @redx105, as he’s the biggest Shing02 head I know.
The Siq Records crew is bringing out your favorite samurai for a couple of appearances in the next two weeks. I’ll save the battle show for next week and focus today’s post on the headlining show this Friday.
Shing02, known mostly for his work contributing to the soundtrack for Adult Swim’s Samurai Champloo, will make his grand return to Hawaii for a special headlining show at LOTUS SOUNDBAR. A man of many talents, his past accomplishments include accompanying M.I.A. on her Japan Tour in 2006, being an activist with STOP ROKKASHO, a movement designed to stop the reprocessing of Japan’s nuclear waste. On top of all of that, he’s also the inventor of the Vestax Faderboard.
Along with Shing02 will be Siq Records own Japanese product, Meiso, Ill Hill Society, Amen & Lionz of Zion.
This event, hosted by Ion Mike, will go down this Friday night at the Lotus Soundbar. Doors open at 9PM.
Along with some Old D, you also get Creed Chameleon, Audible Lab Rats and some special surprises.
SO, if that doesn’t get you out on Kamehameha Day, I don’t know what will.
It all goes down this Thursday night at the Loft. It’s $12 for those 21+, so keep the kids at home. The show starts at 9pm, so be sure to be there early.
BIG UPS to the Siq Records crew for holding down Hawaii. Two years strong. Now, it’s time to celebrate!
And, this celebration is so big, it needs TWO days to complete.
Day one will be a special edition of HIp Hop at the Trops. ALR, Jonah the Whale, Fat Soul, Ill HIll Society and a whole gang of others will be rocking the spot with special guest, Siq Records own HOSANA topping the night off. There will also be a special 1-on-1 emcee battle hosted by Big Moxxx and live art by the EV crew. DJs Cozy and Careless1 will eb holding down the spot, as usual.
Night two will be a special event at Diamondhead Grill (formerly the W). HOSANA will be in the house, along with NoMasterBacks, The Perfect Median, Meiso, Bad Things, and Creed Chameleon. Djs Packo, Anit & Stealth will be holding downt he musical duties while the groundUP Pirates rock the art side of things.
Hip Hop at the Trops on Friday goes down at Tropics Cafe, starting at 9PM. $3 for 18+, FREE for the 21+ set. The Saturday night event goes down at 10PM with a dress code in full effect for the 21+ set. FREE before 11pm, $5 with a flyer.
If you still need convincing, here’s HOSANA talking about the 2 year party.
HOSANA, @Lofa’s waiting for that album, where’s it at, bro?
For more info on the Anniversary Parties, hit up the fine folks at SIQ RECORDS.
Big ups to Kenta, Bone, and the rest of the Siq Records crew. Congratulations!
Hawaii’s Hip-Hop Elite comes out tonight to celebrate two years of Hawaii’s spotlight for underground hip-hop.
HIp-Hop at the Trops has been going strong for two years, showcasing the best in local and mainland talent. And to celebrate this, there will be a grip of emcees rolling through this week’s edition and blessing the mic.
NoMasterBacks, Audible Lab Rats, Creed Chameleon, Grip H, Bad Things, Rhyme, Nippondamic, Amen & Ill Hill Society will be rocking sets throughout the night, as well as the first ever One-on-One Emcee battle at the Trops. Murder Mainstream will be rocking that mash-up electro set and good vibes will be had by all.
There’s no cover for the 18+ crowd, so make your way down to Tropics Cafe at the Ward Farmers Market for some good vibes, god times, awesome food and great local hip-hop.
This Friday night there will be a special event presented by the SIQ Records Crew.
Murder Mainstream will be rocking the Loft this Friday night, along with DJ Logue and DJ Packo. This multimedia musical attack will rock out starting at 10PM for the 21+ crowd. Expect a night full of hip-hop, electronic dance music, good vibes, and the Loft’s amazingly infamous sushi specials. It’s SUPER OFFICIAL, for serious.

The Siq Records crew and DJ BONE got something dope for you guys this Pre-Valentine’s Night.
What better way to celebrate your Valentine’s (or lack thereof) than with Creed Chameleon? Seriously, Creedence should be bringing it EXTRA HARD this Friday, as this holiday makes up the majority of his first studio album “Love Potion Cyanide.” Speaking of, if you somehow manage your significant other to go with you to Tropics this Friday, you get a free copy of “Love Potion Cyanide” as a special gift to you two.
Besides the good Valentine’s vibes, you also get the musical stylings of the Hammer Brothers and the consummate professionalism and ill emceeing of Hawaii’s next Kings of Hip-Hop: the Perfect Median. Also, for the first time , Ill Hill Society will be gracing the stage. So, that should be enough of a treat for you guys to come out.
Top that off with extra grooves of DJ Kozy and CareLess1.
This all goes down this Friday night at 9:30pm at Tropics Cafe at the Ward Farmers Market. Tropics Cafe is located next to the Ward Theatres and the Ward Farmers Market. Entry is free for those 18+, so enjoy the good grooves, good vibes, and awesome food.
DJ Bone will be throwing another edition of Hip-Hop at the Trops tonight.
This week, featuring the rhymes of Nippondamic form Hunger Pains and Amen from Indigenous Womb.
As with all Hip-Hop at the Trops events, this one has good vibes, good food and a laid back atmosphere that’s a departure from the other late night spot just across the way and upstairs. Definitely has better music, too.
This week’s Hip-Hop at the Trops is free to those 18+. DJ Revise and Careless1 will be bringing the beats in between the heat, so be prepared to dance and nod your head after eating.
Tropics Cafe is located at the Ward Farmers Market, next door to the Ward Theatres. The music starts at 9:30pm.
Slug and Ant bring their Minnesota charm and Twin Cities appeal to Pipeline Cafe this Saturday night in the biggest hip-hop show this side of Thanksgiving. The Rhymesayers will be in the mix, along with Hawaii’s own Creed Chameleon (with the Spacifics) and chief lightsleepers Kavet The Catalyst.
This is a rare event, as Hawaii has really struggled as of late with trying to get major urban acts out here, but somehow the BAMP guys keep doing it, exceeding all expectations.
To catch a piece of this fire, check out Atmosphere at Pipeline Cafe this Saturday night. Doors open at 9PM, so this one isn’t for the little kids. For more info, check out BAMP Project.
Creed Chameleon is celebrating the release of his new album the only way he knows how: throwing a huge party with everyone invited.
This one is called SIQ of Summer and is the official end of Summer/ Back to school / SIQ of Lazy album release party. For those that haven’t been paying much attention, Creed will be dropping a gem of an album this Saturday at this party. Featuring guest appearances by Ion Mike, Meiso, Parlous, Mox, Krystyles, TKO, NoMasterBacks, Everybody Knows and I really can’t remember who else is on the album… but they’re probably dope, nonetheless… SIQ of Lazy is set to redefine the limits of Hawaii Hip-Hop.
The event itself is going down this Saturday night at the E&O Trading Company on the third floor of Victoria Ward Center. It’s going to feature appearances from such luminaries as The Perfect Median, NoMasterBacks, Bless’DChil’, Hunger Pains and many more. Live painting will be done by Angry Woebots CkaweekS and DJs Revise and Packo will be blessing the tables.
Of course, the real headliner of this show is the man of the hour: Creed Chameleon, performing jams from his new album, which, if you’re one of the first 100 through the door, you can score a free copy.
This party is 21+ and there is a dress code in effect, so make sure you’re looking right. Party starts at 9pm and rages until 2am.
