    Prolifik NOW at split obsession

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I had heard rumblings of this happening a few months ago, but I guess this has just made it official: Prolifik Projects are now being carried by Split Obsession. Micah and the rest of the Prolifik family has been big on helping out others, now they get a little bit of shine for themselves.  Besides holding the title of being the hardest brand to find in Hawaii (yes, Soljah was a lot easier to find than Prolifik), the Prolifik family has been out hustling with their own stable of MMA fighters (Van Shiroma, Sadhu Bott, and Justin Wong of Team HMC).

Speaking of Justin, he’ll be fighting this Friday night at the Blaisdell for Team HMC/Prolifik at the Galaxy MMA: Bad Blood event. He’ll be taking on 808 Top Team’s Brandon Pieper in a 145 lb. match.

Congrats to Micah and the Prolifik family for getting their amazing designs out there to a broader audience.  Support local designers and brands.

You can pick up all of the designs above the Ala Moana Split Obsession location.

    Prolifik Spring 2010 Look Book

This is the latest designs from the McCully street phenoms, Prolifik.  It’s been a minute since we heard from them, but it was definitely worth the wait.  Along with opening up their design studio/printing area/retail spot to the public, they’ve been making moves, sponsoring Team HMC fighters Van Shiroma, Sadhu Bott, and DeJuan Hathaway (all of which will be fighting March 20th at X-1 World Events CHAMPIONS 2 at the Blaisdell, more info coming soon).

Along with that, they’ve been doing collaboration pieces with top artists, such as Eukarezt, Pancho Abalos, Shaun Castro, Philippe Anthony and KOAK.  They’ve also teamed up with fellow clothing companies Artist Proof and Poksai as an oficial distributor of the brands.

This Spring LookBook represents what’s next, but definitely not what’s ahead for Prolifik.  The brand and it’s creative minds are always cooking something up. If you only knew what was about to hit…

All these designs will be available starting this Saturday at the Art Wars event at Diverse Art Center.

Check out Prolifik on their website at http://www.prolifikprojects.com or become a fan on their Facebook.

    Prolifik Projects Grand Opening

After a year or so in preparation, Prolifik Projects is OFFICIALLY open to the public.

The shop is still undergoing some additions, but the shop is up and running, ready for the masses to do some awesome Christmas shopping.  You’ll never know who you’ll see in there… just swing on by and check it out.

As you can see, there’s some awesome new stuff in here, including a new lime green/grey colorway of the Prolifik handstyle shirt, a maroon/yellow “Writers Never Die” lightsleepers shirt, and Prolifik is one of the few spots you can cop the new Eukarezt designs and Pancho Abalos’ Artist Proof series of shirts.

You can also cop a nice selection of lightsleepers gear here as well.

So, swing by the shop at 939 McCully St. and tell the friendly counter peeps that atypicalLIVING sent you.

As of right now, the shop has consistent hours on Saturdays from 10am-5pm.  Otherwise, you can catch the announcements of when they’ll be open on both the Prolifik Twitter and Facebook pages. You can also make a shopping appointment with them through those pages as well.

NEW! Pancho Abalos “Artist Proof” shirt

Pancho Abalos, one of Hawaii’s top artists, is introducing his latest project “Artist Proof Clothing” with this shirt.

The shirt, a collaborative effort between Pancho and Prolifik Projects display what is possible within the borders of Honolulu.  The shirt, honestly, is bananas.  Six-color print, exceptional fit and finish, high-end materials.  This is THE shirt to get for the season.  This shirt is an amazing effort behind two of the hottest entities in Hawaii streetwear.

The “dinokids” shirt debuted this past weekend at DunkXChange and was an instant hit.  To go get yours, check out Pancho’s MySpace page.

    Roses and Revolvers: The LadyKillers

This event has been in the planning stages since the beginning of the year.  This Saturday, all that planning goes live as atypicalLIVING Creative Partners and Prolifik Projects present the most ambitious art show of the Summer 2008 season: Roses and Revolvers: The LadyKillers.

The premise is simple, with all the art events and female-only events, including Girl Fest… I don’t think anyone seriously has done a Hawaii-based all-female art show before.  So, with that in mind, the atypicalLIVING crew set out to do the seemingly impossible, round up a collective of dope female artists to throw an art show.  What ended up happening was the coming together of 16 of the dopest double-X chromosomes ever brought together in one spot.

Some names you’ll recognize off the bat from the groundUP Pirates: R Zone, Janel Natividad, Lady Julz, Painted Lemon, and Amy Wagner (who, according to everyone who has seen it, has stepped her game up to another level and easily has two of the illest pieces in the show…).  Other names look familiar, but can’t really place where you’ve seen them before: Remi, Leah Ball (MidWeek), Lisa Mita (MidWeek / Prolifik), Sonia Castro (groundUP).  Other names look familiar, but you’d never have expected them to be in an art show in Hawaii: Hannah Stouffer (Grand Array / Upper Playground), Phallic Mammary (Pocket Full of Monsters / http://jen.lu).

Other names you haven’t even seen before, but you should know, as they make up the Prolifik Projects ninja crew: Jandi Q, Angeli Saura, Merissa Revestir.

And two of the illest women I’ve ever worked with and the two original LadyKillers: the talented Cheryl Membrere (Agency Design / Melange Design / atypicalLIVING) and the always dangerous Miss Yumi (TrueType Tyrant / atypicalLIVING).

All 16 of these women were brought together with one goal in mind, to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  What better to battle the number one killer of women than to send out a team of trained art assassins to take it down?  That’s the goal behind Roses and Revolvers: to raise money for the ACS and awareness about this disease.

Now that you’ve gotten the information, time to act on it.

Roses and Revolvers: The Lady Killers opens this Saturday night at Prolifik HQ at 939 McCully Street.  The gallery opens at 5pm.  Entry fee is $10 / $5 if you wear a shirt from one of the sponsors.  A portion of the proceeds from the door and the art sales will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.  Music will be provided by the head lightsleeper Kavet the Catalyst.  Most of the art will be on sale.  Interested buyers should find me at the show and inquire about prices.

As a special bonus to those who check out split obsession’s I Got Wood show in Hawaii Kai at the same time… we’ll allow after hours entrance (after 9pm) to those who provide: a valid split obsession receipt dated August 23rd, a wood block from the show, or a picture on their digital camera / phone of themselves with Bruce, Erica, or both.  We’ll be here all night, so check out split obsession first, then check out Roses and Revolvers.

The show will be up for the next month and open on an appointment basis.  Email me at (jdomingo@atypicalLIVING.com) for more information.

Hope to see everyone on Saturday, as we’ve put a lot of work into this event.  Hope we can represent Hawaii, women, and Hawaii’s women the way it should be represented.

Props to all the sponsors for their unbelievable support (lightsleepers, iKandy/exclusive, superCW.com).
