    Beat Root Grand Championships

    beatrootfinalsjpg

    This is the week!

The lightsleepers present Hawaii’s PREMIER Upper Echelon Producer Battle, Beat Root.  This round is the Grand Championship round, where the best of the best battle each other for supremacy on the beats.  The subplot to this battle is the fact that it’s essentially laptops vs. MPCs for this one.

Laels Beats, The HAP. TKO, DJAH, Kazu The Gonzo, and Osna will battle it out to see who is the best producer of them all.  The winner of this battle will join Ques? as the only producers rocking the crown of Beat Root Grand Champion.

Along with the beat battle, NoMasterBacks, Slapp Symphony, Newjacks, Creed Chameleon, Rhyme Da Old Man, Bless’DChil, and Nabahe will grace the crowd with performances.

In between all that, Philippe Anthony will be rocking out the live painting steez and Oliver Twist, Observ, KTC, and Joe Gosalvez will be rocking the wheels of steel.

This epic event goes down this Saturday night at 9pm at the Loft (115 N. Hotel St.).  Tickets are $7 at the door, but you can get them for $5 presale from Easy Music Center, in4mation, or Eles Hawaii. The first 100 paid people through the door get a copy of the Beat Root Samplayer, a collection of tracks from Beat Root competitors past and present.

Or, you could win the tickets from atypicalLIVING.  Details forthcoming.

For more info, check out the lightsleepers.

    Lafa Taylor.

At first, I thought… who the eff is this dude?

On second thought… it IS Aceyalone on a little too much of that happy herb.

So, this hip-hop/reggae mashup sack of fun should be an interesting endeavor this Friday night.

Also, this is the official after party for the homie Aaron Yoshino‘s “The End is NEAR” photo exhibit, so you know this has to be hella good.

The concert is this Friday night at the Loft, doors open at 8pm for those 21+.  $10 at the door gets you in & a visit to this site will get you a Red Stripe from the Myopenbar folks.

Check out the Loft’s website or MySpace for more info.

    Loving the flyer, BTW.

This Friday night there will be a special event presented by the SIQ Records Crew.

Murder Mainstream will be rocking the Loft this Friday night, along with DJ Logue and DJ Packo.  This multimedia musical attack will rock out starting at 10PM for the 21+ crowd.  Expect a night full of hip-hop, electronic dance music, good vibes, and the Loft’s amazingly infamous sushi specials.  It’s SUPER OFFICIAL, for serious.

For a sample of Murder Mainstream, check out the YouTube video here:

Elevaters LIVE at the Loft this Friday

    n681937652_1606924_723

MyOpenBar, along with the fine folks at the Loft and the Queen of the Bloggies, superCW, bring you elevaters LIVE at the Loft this Friday.  This jazz/hip-hop/rock/soul outfit from LA will be joined along with the Deadbeats, Hawaii’s own jazz/hip-hop/rock/soul outfit and the always entertaining Dj Kittylee.

The fun begins super early at 5PM with an art show featuring live art from angry woebots.

The live music kicks off at 10pm.

This show is 21+, so keep the kids at home.  If you don’t know where the Loft is by now, apparently, you haven’t followed the site close enough.  But, as a refresher, it’s at 115 Hotel St., right above the old Sankyu Bakery.  Enter the bakery, head up the stairs.  Easy Peasy.

So, to get you in the mood for the show, here’s a couple elevaters songs to get familiar with.
