Kid Robot x angry woebots: Luck on a Spear.

So, this happened yesterday…

RUMOR HAS IT, Kid Robot will be dropping a new series called the 2Tone series. This series has caused such a ruckus that even the official Kid Robot board is neither confirming nor denying that the set is releasing. Even the artists are getting on board by posting teaser photos… Huck Gee dropped a subtle hint and now angry woebots just dropped this not so subtle hint. Panda with a bamboo stick holding a koi fish? REEEE-DICULOUS.

So, absolutely NO ONE KNOWS if this is dropping.

What I DO know is that angry woebots will be up in the spot at Split Obsession Ala Moana this Thursday from 6:30-9pm selling his newest gear and there is a special toy release. This may or may not involve the image above, but… you never know.

Good luck to everyone trying to find this one, I know it’s gonna be crazy hunting.

Dunny 2010 release

It’s that time of year again…

The 2010 release of the official DUNNY series is upon us and Split Obsession is offering a release party for vinyl heads out there.

Not only will they have the Dunny series for sale, but they’ll also have special Dunny button packs for purchases of 4 Dunny boxes or more. They have also worked a deal with Kid Robot to have the special Sket-One Relish Bottle Dunny available for those that purchase a case.

On top of all that, Dunny cases get 10% off and regular priced Split Obsession merchandise get 25% off. Crazy, right?

Dunny Fatale release today

A new series of Dunny’s are hitting store shelves today.  Called the FATALE series, this set features designs from 18 talented female artists.

Artists in this innovative series include Alex Anderson, Catalina Estrada, KLOR, CW, Aiko, Kathie Olivas, Wendi Koontz, Koralie, Baroness, Anna Chambers, Amanda Visell, Amy Ruppel, Julie West, Toofly, Junko Mizuno, Aya Kakeda, Tara McPherson, and Sara Varon.

These are available today worldwide at all Kid Robot retailers, including Prototype’s two locations at Pearlridge and Ala Moana.

Prototype Dunny Trading Party and Raffle

This Thursday, the Prototype operatives will be breaking open that fresh new case of Dunnys for another Dunny Trading Party and Raffle.

They’ll be pulling the wraps off of the new “Ye Olde English” Dunny Series and will be giving away an unopened box of 25 to a lucky winner.

So, how do you get up on that?  Well, swing by the shop at any time on Thursday, 1/22, and buy a dunny. For every dunny you buy on Thursday, you get a raffle ticket placed into the drawing for the unopened box.

Also, Kid Robot clothing will go on sale for this special event.  Also, shhh, but there’s also gonna be a special raffle drawing at 7:30pm for those that roll through early.

At 8:30pm, the winning ticket will be pulled and if the winner isn’t present and in the store in 5 minutes, the next ticket will be pulled.  It’s just that simple.

The trading party begins at 6:30pm, so come early and bring some good stuff to trade.  Also, bring some cash, because there’s gonna be a lot of dope stuff you’re gonna want to buy.

Fatcap Series 2 Release and Trading Party

This Thursday marks the release of the second edition of Fatcaps from Kid Robot.  And to celebrate this momentous occasion, Urbanz Toys in Kaimuki will hold a special release and trading party.

If you’ve ever been to one of Urbanz infamous release parties, you know that there’s tons of toys being traded, even more being bought inside of the store and, knowing the way that the Urbanz crew likes to get down, a special surprise based on the toy release.

So, bring down all your toys and go and cop some more at the Fatcap release party this Thursday, starting at 6pm.  The event lasts until 8pm, so there’s plenty of time to make it down to Next Door for the East3 x Kid Robot release as part of Dig Lifestyle’s 3rd anniversary.

French Dunny coverage in the Advertiser

The French Dunny series release at Urbanz Toys garnered some mainstream media attention, as the Star-Bulletin sent out a team (writer Gary Chun, photographer Cindy Ellen Russell, and videographer Jason Gengabus) to cover the happenings for a features story.

Well, the story ran yesterday and it was very positive, equating the vinyl toy market to one of urban youth and art appreciation.  What was also pretty dope was the accompanying video with the article.  Very well done with interviews with buttrpecan1, Kathy and a shot of myself holding the very classy combination of White Wine and French Fries.

atypicalLIVING covers… French Dunny Release at Urbanz Toys

The French Dunny series got released with a bang this past week at Urbanz Toys in Kaimuki. Urbanz and Kid Robot provided Hawaii’s toy collecting massive with a special release/trading party featuring all things French: red and white wine, creme puffs, brie and fig tarts and… French Fries. Yes, French Fries. Nothing screams classy like French Fries.

Anyway, the release was pretty epic and Urbanz actually got a pretty good amount of stock in. And what a lucky bunch Urbanz got, as not one, but TWO golden tickets were found in the boxes. One was found by buttrpecan1 and the other found by Kathy herself. SO, to spread the karma, she hooked me up with a freebie box to go along with the traditional last two in the case that I normally do at these types of events. The freebie one turned out to be the green one in the toy pic, along side the white hunter dude (1/100) and the gray carbon neutral one, which, from a design standpoint, is pretty interesting.

Overall, it was a well done event by the Urbanz kids.  Seeing the collectors en masse was a great and the wine really helped out with some trades.  Seriously.

Awesome job and props to Kathy and Scott for throwing this together.  Now, if I can only petition Kid Robot to make the next Dunny series L.A. based so there can be some bandannas and 40s in brown bags at the next event.

One can dream, right?

Dunny Trading party this Thursday at Urbanz Toys

Urbanz Toys, in association with Kid Robot, will be hosting yet another Dunny Trading Party, coinciding with the release of the French Dunny Series.  Currently, the Urbanz Gang is out of town for a business trip, but they’ll be open this Thursday night for all the festivities.

As is tradition with the Trading Party, Urbanz will be closed until 6PM that day and will extend their hours until 9PM.  Expect food, trading, prize giveaways and, oh yeah, the release of the French Dunny Series.  The Urbanz boards have been ablaze with trades, so, if you got some vinyl you need to get, that’s the spot to hit up.  Plus, you get to place names with faces, so that’s always a plus.

As is tradition with me and Lofa, we’ll be there to cover the whole thing, and we’ll be the ones that buy the last two Dunnies, so, prepare for the hilarity to ensue from that.

So, to recap, the Dunny Trading party and French Dunny Release is this Thursday night at 6PM at Urbanz Toys in Kaimuki.
