DIlla Day at Manifest

Stussy, in association with Stones Throw, celebrates the life and work of legendary producer J Dilla with a National Dilla Day celebration.

The celebration culminates tonight at Manifest with a special edition of Super Handsome Saturday, featuring the sound selections of Delve, SSSolution, and Compose.  They’ll be rocking all the Dilla classics, along with stuff that would fit in well with your Saturday night out.

This 21+ party starts at 10pm and keeps it going until 2am.  There’s no cover, so feel free to drop by and check out the sounds.

NEW! Kicks/HI “Tinsel” New Era

If you need a last-minute gift, Kicks/HI got the solution for you.

This one is entitled “Tinsel” and represents the return, at least in the mind of the streets, of silver to the forefront.  Which I get, silver’s on the come up.

NEW! Kicks/HI “KH Script” New Era

In response to an overwhelming demand for a Blue Kicks/HI New Era, the Kicks/HI fam will be dropping this gem on the heads on Saturday.

This Mets-colored piece is nicknamed “Lee Smith” because when this piece enters the game, you can consider the game shut down.

For Sure.

This one drops this Saturday morning at both Kicks/HI locations: Ward & Makaloa.

Kicks/HI Black Friday Sale/Releases

Unfortunately, the epic Kicks/HI warehouse sale will not be in effet this year.

Instead, the Kicks/HI fam is coing at you with a new approach: new product drop.

First up is the release of the limited edition “TAPA” print snapback caps and shirt.  This pattern holds special significance, as it’s the same pattern that’s in a lightbox for the Kicks/HI + GUAM shop.  The tribal triangle pattern is the new hotness, as the Kicks/HI crew utilizes it to it’s fullest potential here.

Also dropping on Black Friday is a new 1Hund(Red) Converse release. This collabo is with Danish designers WOOD WOOD.  AND… don’t forget about new Nike SB gear dropping as well.

Not a fan of the new releases, well, the Kicks/HI crew will also be throwing down some sweet specials, including 20% off all outerwear, 20% off all women’s gear, $10/$15 shirts and 50% off select merchandise.  Again, the sales are nice, but don’t expect the warehouse sale.  This is a different beast.

The Black Friday Kicks/HI sale begins this Friday and goes on all weekend, so make Kicks/HI one of your stops this weekend.

NEW! Kicks/HI Fall 2008 shirts

 

Today, Kicks Hawaii drops their latest shirts on the heads of Hawaii. And I’ll be darned to find out that these joints are super official.

First shirt is a graphic that should look familiar to anyone that has stopped by one of the Kicks/HI shops: the “You Know Where We Stay” Shaka silhouette.

Bold, Iconic, Strictly Kicks. I love it.

I also love the second shirt, which is also a shout out to an iconic figure: Don Ho. Mr. Ho is immortalized in a Kaufmann-like four color print, with the tagline “The Last Real Don” emblazoned on the bottom. I’ll admit, I got a little misty when I saw this shirt for the first time. It’s one of those pieces that every true head in Hawaii should have in their possession.

These pieces will be available to pick up today from both Ward and Makaloa Kicks/HI locations, starting at 11am sharp.

Tassho Pearce “The Opening Act” available NOW!

Even though the album is slated for an official release next week Tuesday, Tassho and the Flip the Bird crew is hooking up the Hawaii fam up with the exclusive first taste.  They already set it off right with the free download of the radio edit, but now, the official hard copy version is out there, waiting for you to scoop up at some of Hawaii’s finest retailers like Kicks/HI (Ward and Makaloa), in4mation Ward Center, Aloha Army, Prototype, and Fitted Hawaii.

Go get one of the dopest albums and cleanest productions I’ve heard in the past couple of months.

This Hawaii exclusive is this week only, as the album drops everywhere, including major retailers like WalMart, Best Buy, and K-Mart, starting on the 14th.

NEW! Black Lightning x Shadow Conspiracy

Leading BMX manufacturer Shadow Conspiracy has teamed up with bike fabricator Black Lightning for an awesome combo of fitted and shirt.

This is probably the most detailed out fitted I’ve seen in a minute… BL x SC logo on the front, Shadow Conspiracy and Black Lightning logos on the back and underbill, satin lining and tonal print.  Very sick indeed.

The shirt is no slouch either, with it’s BL x SC logo on the front, all over tonal print and the Black Lightning logo on the sleeve hit.  Definitely worthy of being rocked on the street while cruising on the black mags.

Word on the street is that the Shadow Conspiracy folks were hella stoked about the project and scooped up a grip of the sets.  So, that means Saturday’s drop might be hella limited.  But, that shouldn’t stop you from getting yours, really.

These come out this Saturday at 11am at both the Ward and Makaloa St. Kicks/HI locations.

NEW! St. Alfred Caps

This Saturday marks the release of two great cap styles from the St. Alfred fam.  First up is a snap back cap that seems to be all he rage this season.  OG White Sox, purple and basic black make up the lineup for these caps.  Seriously, everyone’s been bringing back the trucker.  To be fully honest with you, these are so dope, I’d say the trucker is back with a vengeance.  Especially with the sun still beating down on you in the HI, trucker caps are super official.

The second type of cap that’s coming out is the five-panel.  This one is dope because of the multitude of colors and the checkerboard pattern.  Definite official status there.  Remember, the 5-panel is the cap for those that don’t rock the fitteds, so go get yourself hooked up on dome pieces.

Kicks/HI End of Summer Sale

I don’t think there’s much more to say other than… you should be at this sale.

Kicks/HI rarely does a store-wide sale, but when they do… it certainly does not disappoint.  The particulars are spelled out pretty clearly, but, just in case you’re checking this on an RSS reader…

This sale is going strong for three days: this Friday, September 12th – Sunday, September 14th.  The sale is going down at both Kicks/HI locations at Ward Center and Makaloa St. and will be limited to stock on hand.

If this is even half as crazy as the warehouse sale, be prepared to battle for your size.  Not a warning, just giving you a heads up.

Black Lightning Late Summer 2008 line

Black Lightning is back for another run of dope designs and under-the-radar heat.  Coming strong for the last half of Summer 2008 is two dope mesh truckers (a silver threaded piece and a GOLD threaded number), and SIX, yes… count em, SIX new shirt designs.

Definitely feeling the “Reign in Black” and the “Ride the Lightning” pieces.  Very dope. And the trucker pieces are super intriguing.  Much respect to the Black Lightning crew for making this line true to the BMX lifestyle.

These pieces come out this Saturday at both Kicks/HI locations.  It’s amazing simpleness makes this line simply amazing.
