    ooflisteningpartyflyer

After you’ve enjoyed their Friday performance at the Loft and before they head to the outer islands for a few performances, you can check out the Blue Scholars as they host a special listening party for their new EP, OOF!

To match the theme of the album, they’ll be having a Sunday afternoon BBQ at Magic Island, near Ala Moana Center.

So, gather the fam (literally, this is a family-friendly event), some food to share (it IS a potluck) and cruise with Geo, Sabzi, the in4mation fam, Honozooloo, and all your other friends on the beautiful beaches of Hawaii.

This is gonna start around 3pm, but you know how Hawaiian time goes… just head over to Magic Island and look for the in4mation banners.

more about “Blue Scholars “Hi-808″ | mtvU“, posted with vodpod

    Blue Scholars are BACK!

This time, they’ve wandered out of the Upper Left for a minute and shot a video for the first single off their new EP “OOF,” “Hi-808.”

This one is a certified banger, as the drum kicks are fierce, PLUS! special guest appearances from all of your Hawaii favorites. See if you can spot people you know in this clip.

This is all part of the master plan for the new “OOF” EP, being part of a collaboration with angry woebots, in4mation, Kai Media and Honozooloo. This looks to be an amazing partnership that will only get doper as more details come out.

After checking out the video, feel free to read up on the inspiration of the new EP and also a free download of the song over at the Blue Scholars website.

Remember, the Blue Scholars return to Hawaii at the end of the month. Stay tuned for more details.

    Lafa Taylor.

At first, I thought… who the eff is this dude?

On second thought… it IS Aceyalone on a little too much of that happy herb.

So, this hip-hop/reggae mashup sack of fun should be an interesting endeavor this Friday night.

Also, this is the official after party for the homie Aaron Yoshino‘s “The End is NEAR” photo exhibit, so you know this has to be hella good.

The concert is this Friday night at the Loft, doors open at 8pm for those 21+.  $10 at the door gets you in & a visit to this site will get you a Red Stripe from the Myopenbar folks.

Check out the Loft’s website or MySpace for more info.

The End is NEAR – the work of Aaron K. Yoshino

    hnzl_theendisnear

Swing by the in4mation Boardshop on the second floor of Ward Warehouse this Friday nght for a special art event that holds personal meaning for us here at atypicalLIVING.

Aaron Yoshino aka Honozooloo aka the photographer you see darn near everywhere is holding a solo photo show, displaying work that you probably haven’t seen yet.  I got a little preview of what he had planned for the show and I, for one, am mad excited for it.  This is gonna display the artistry of the photographer and the grittiness of the new Chinatown.  The flyer photo says a lot, but at the same time, says nothing to which the show will be all about.  This is gonna be epic, and the only way to experience it is to get to the in4mation Boardshop this Friday night.

If you still need convincing, the fine folks at Honolulu Myopenbar will be providing FREE Red Stripe and Sake.  I seriously don’t know what else they can do to convince you to go to this show.

“The End is Near” goes down this Friday night from 6-9pm at the in4mation Boardshop, on the second floor of the Ward Warehouse.  Also, if you’re still in the partying mood, the afterparty for the show, featuring Lafa Taylor, will go down at the Loft from 9pm-2am.

Props to Aaron for this one, congrats bro.

Blue Scholars at Next Door this 1st friday

    blueschol

Big Ups to @honozooloo, @superCW, and @sonecessary for all the info.

So, the Shwayze show scheduled for New Year’s Eve at Pipeline Cafe has been cancelled.

BUT! their special guests are in town to rock the 1st Friday spot the weekend following.

Blue Scholars.  Next Door. First Friday. January 2nd. 21+.  Almost doesn’t even need it’s own copy, does it?

Almost a full six months since they infamously closed down Next Door, Geologic and Sabzi are BACK in Hawaii, bring that Pacific Northwest hip-hop that drove people bananas last time.

It’s $10 to get in, but it’ll be the best $10 you’ve spent on a show in a long time.  And, it’ll be the first show you’ll go to in the new year, so make it count.

For more, check out myneighborsnextdoor.com and bluescholars.com for more info.

    Love Actually

    share

    share-1

You know, not a lot of details were given to me about this one, so I’m gonna glean as much from the flyer as I can for this post.

So, NO real clue who’s throwing this together, but I do know it involves Grace Bible Church somehow.  The exhibits look super OFFICIAL, as Aaron Rideout, Mai Love, Painted Lemon, Honozooloo, and  KPix will be dropping some dope photo exhibitions.  Cassandra Rull will be providing some sort of fashion display and Soohee and Remi will be bringing the art to the party.

Performances from Tehani, Friends of Adam, and a combined performance of Beat Root standout Stutterin’ Stan and the multi-faceted Living Proof will highlight the live music at this event.

Of course, since it’s close to Christmas, Santa will be bringing it, somehow, someway…

Plus, some other stuff that I wasn’t informed of, but I assume will go off without a hitch.

This all goes down this Friday night at the FilCom (Filipino Community Center) in Waipahu.  The event starts at 6pm, but get there early because parking is a B at the FilCom, as those who have attended a b-boy jam there can attest to.

Looks like a fun event, so who knows, maybe the mystery of the whole thing might work to the event’s advantage?  We shall see…
