Star Wars Toys for Tots Night

No, not donating a Chewbacca figure to the Marines, but the Pacific Outpost 501st Legion has pledged to help out the US Marines in their efforts to collect new and unused toys for their Toys For Tots drive at Honolulu City Lights.

The 501st Legion is a worldwide organization and the preferred Imperial costuming group by Lucas Film. So, check them out in costume this Friday night at Honolulu Hale. This is one night only, so definitely bring a camera for the photo opportunity.

This goes down this Friday night at Honolulu City Lights at Honolulu Hale. The toy drive begins at 6pm. For more information, contact the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts at 808-768-6622.

    Honolulu City Lights tonight

Honolulu’s traditional Christmas display, Honolulu City Lights, will be lighting up the night tonight, starting at 6pm. The tree lighting will be followed by the Electric Light Parade down King Street and a special Holiday concert at the Sky Gate Stage.

This event is free and open to the public, but, you might want to start making your way down to Honolulu Hale now, because traffic and parking are gonna be a problem in about an hour.

    Honolulu City Lights Opens

Each year, the city shuts down for the lighting of Honolulu City Lights, but with the De La Hoya/Pacquiao fight and UH vs. Cincinnati at the Stadium going on at roughly the same time, I’m gonna wonder who’s gonna be left in the city?

The City Lights celebration starts at 4pm, with the opening of the displays, the food booths, and the Keiki rides.  At 5pm, the Kawaiaha’o Church Choir will perform.

At 6pm, Amy Hanaiali’i will perform during the tree lighting ceremony.  Followed shortly after by the electric light parade down King Street, from Aala Park to Honolulu Hale.

At 6:30pm, Honolulu Hale opens up to the Christmas trees, wreaths displays and gingerbread houses.

To wrap up the night, John Cruz, Jake Shimabukuro, Karen Keawehawai`i, Kristian Lei and J Boog & Laga Savea will wrap up the night with a holiday concert.

Also available at the opening is the chance to purchase commemorative collectible ornaments and this year’s t-shirts.  The mens/kids shirts feature the Santa Shaka on green.  New this year is a ladies only white scoop neck shirt featuring a sparkly poinsettia.

This event is at Honolulu Hale.  It’s free and open to the public.  So, bring the fam bam by and check out the amazing artistry of Hawaii’s Holiday artisans.
