    “Exit Through The Gift Shop” HAWAII PREMIERE 

    Yes, THAT Film.

    The critically acclaimed Banksy documentary “Exit Through The Gift Shop” will be making it’s Hawaii premiere this Friday night at the Doris Duke Theatre for Friends of Film Friday.

    If you know about this movie, then you KNOW about this movie. The first street art disaster movie, this one is described by Banksy himself as “the story of how one man set out to film the unfilmable. And failed.”  The movie features appearances from Shepard Fairey, Invader, and others.

    The movie premiere goes down this Friday night at the Doris Duke Theatre, starting at 6pm. There’s only ONE showing (730pm) so make sure you get your tickets.

    ARTafterDARK: Remix

    The Honolulu Academy of Arts will eb throwing down another awesome ARTafterDARK this Friday with “Remix” featuring the works of the recently juried “Artists of Hawaii 2009” show, the “Art of the Brick” featuring the awesomeness of LEGO.  You can check out some of the more epic LEGO pieces ever made and you can have the chance to create your own LEGO masterpiece.

    Also around is an artist co-op sale, featuring designs from Bradley Capello, Christy Chung, Lesa Griffith, Kamea Hadar, Alan Konishi, Mat Kubo, Mariko Merritt and Silas Stoddard especially for REMIX.

    Music will be provided by Chinatown favorites THE DEADBEATS and DJ DELVE.

    Food will be provided by the homies at TOWN Kaimuki.

    This all goes down this Friday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts on Beretania from 6-9pm. $10 to get in and free for members of the Academy.

    1st Annual Filipino Film Festival

    Starting this Friday and continuing until the 18th, the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts will present the 1st Annual Filipino Film Festival.

    This festival celebrates independent Filipino Cinema by presenting six of the most-celebrated and highly-awarded films in the last couple of years.

    The opening night is this Friday and will feature 2008 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award winner “100.”  This film chronicles the last three months of a terminally ill woman filling out her Bucket List, doing wht she wants to do and getting closure on her life.

    The opening night has already sold out, but the film is showing two more times on Saturday, April 11th at 1pm and 4pm.
