Grind Time Hawaii at the Trops

Hip Hop at the Trops presents a very special event, as Grind Time – the internet’s hottest emcee battle, makes it’s was to Hawaii.  The Main Event for this battle features Hawaii’s own OSNA taking on Dirtbag Dan.  This should be a great event and a battle of epic proportions.

Also on the fight card is the urban legend OBESE JESUS taking on Jordan Dupant and many more battles to be expected.  The sign ups will start early, so look for Hawaii’s top battle emcees to come out for this one.  Dirtbag Dan, Everybody Knows, and the Prolific Unknowns will be holding down the rest of the performance duties.

As always with the dope events at Tropics Cafe, there’s always good vibes, great food, and no cover charge.  This all goes down this Friday night at 10pm at Tropics Cafe, in the Ward Farmers Market.  18+ are invited to have fun at this event.

    JABA ONE in Hawaii

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This week, San Diego’s own JABA ONE rolls through Hawaii with a couple of events to check out.

First up, on Thursday, JABA will be at SOHO Mixed Media Lounge on Pauahi St. for a special birthday celebration for resident SOHO DJ, Yogurt.  This event is 21+, but there’s no cover.  Definitely want to dress up for this one.

On Friday night, JABA will be making an appearance at the Turntable Lounge night at Hip Hop at the Trops.  It’s the night that the DJs control, as each turntable specialist will have 30 minutes to do ANYTHING they desire.

Alongside of JABA ONE will be D’Kre, Technique, Logoe, Une, and Revise.  This one is 18+ and also with no cover.  Might want to dress fresh for that one, too.

The event at SOHO kicks off at 9pm on Thursday night; the event at Tropics Cafe opens up at 930pm.

    Perfect Median farewell show

Yes, the headline is correct. After blessing Hawaii with almost 5 years of amazing performances and vibe creating music, Grip-H and know:juander will be performing for the last time in the state of Hawaii.

But, this is not a sad farewell, as they will be going out with a bang this Friday night at a very special edition of Hip-Hop at the Trops. Along with PM, there will be performances by The Audible Lab Rats, Rhyme The Old Man and Pro (of Pro n Product). DJs Cozy, Un, Revise, and Careless1 will be holding down the rest of the musical duties.

The show is this Friday at Tropics Cafe. 18+ and no cover.

    For more info, call 808-372-2301

On a side note, we here at atypicalLIVING have been advocates for The Perfect Median since we met these two dudes at the first genuineHI “On the 1” event. They’ve been supporters since the (near) beginning and we will continue to support both Grip-H and know:juander in their future endeavors outside Hawaii. They blessed Hawaii with amazing performances and held their own night after night, performance after performance.

If you’ve never gotten a chance to check these guys out live, I highly suggest hitting up Tropics Cafe this Friday night. After the performance, you’ll understand how big of a loss this is for the Hawaii musical community. Big UPS to the Perfect Median and big UPS to DJ Bone for throwing these positive events for the scene.

HIp-Hop at the Trops: Hot 16 Writers Battle

This Friday’s Hip-Hop at the Trops is a special edition featuring two amazing events in one.

First up is the first every Hip-Hop at the Trops Hot 16 Writers Battle. Here’s the deals: emcees will be battling each other, one on one, trading barbs that they’ve written either recently or from a project they’ve worked on.

The participants will be judged on delivery, content, cadence & crowd reaction. Basically, it’s a battle on who’s the most creative on the stick or with the pen.

Judges & audience will choose the winner of this one.

The second big thing going on is a special performance from Shing02. Now, if you saw the flicks that @redx105 dropped for atypicalLIVING the other day, then you know you’re in for a treat at Tropics. He’ll be there, along with Meiso and illaversion.

Revise, Cozy & Careless1 will be manning the decks, to keep you moving all night long.

If you’d like to partake in this hot battle & even hotter performances, drop by Tropics Cafe in the Ward Farmers Market, right across the way from Ward 16 Theatres & Dave & Busters. This event is 18+ and there’s no cover. Doors open at 9pm, show starts at 10pm.

    For more info, call 808-372-2301
