Funky4Corners and Scion hawaii present “FunkDeFined”, another b-boy jam in the series of b-boy jams that Funky4Corners have been throwing down at the FilCom.

The highlights of this jam include a 3-on-3 “Lottery” battle (whatever that means), a “Frequent Floorrocker” battle (which, I’m assuming, is a battle involving dancing, tight lavatories, and tray tables in a upright and locked position), and a writers battle… involving nametags.  Big Mox is hosting, with DJ Flip, Sir Style, and Vince The Funk providing all the breaks that b-boys get down to.

This is an all ages event, so it’s safe for the whole family.  That is, is your family likes to get served.

The event goes down 5PM this Wednesday at the Waipahu FilCom Center.  Entry is $10 with a flyer, $12 without and video cameras are allowed at the event.

    Pure ExpreScion 4 this Saturday

Funky4Corners and Scion Hawaii present “Pure ExpreScion” a free b-boy jam/car show going down on the ground of Scion Hawaii in Mapunapuna. Many of you might remember this as the Movement battle from last year.  well, this year, it’s a new name and it’s a whole new game, with tons of contests going down.

    What kind of contests, you ask?  Well, there’s a $500 Emcee Battle, a $200 Writers Battle, a $200 Beat battle, a $500 B-Boy crew battle, a $200 “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” battle (which I’m assuming means b-boy/b-girl battle), and a $100 1-on-1 b-boy battle.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a car show going down, Live DJs, and a whole bunch more.  Movement was one of the more underrated events last year, so I’m glad to see they’re trying to do it again this year.

This event is free, open to the public, and all ages.  The fun starts at 4pm and keeps going until 9pm at  Scion Hawaii in Mapunapuna.  More information and Battle registration can be found at PureExpreScion.com

Jabbawockeez at the Blaisdell Concert Hall

Prime Productions and Party Down Productions present America’s Best Dance Crew winners Jabbawockeez in a dance concert to heat up your already hot Summer night.

Along with the men in masks, there’s also gonna be the HI RISE dance competition and the Monarchy crew B-Boy battle.  The floor will be burning up with the heat of dope moves and hot competition.  In addition to the battles, there’s performances by Krystilez, Big Mox, Nippon Da Mic, NixPac, Hypersquad, and of course, the Jabbawockeez.

The event goes down tomorrow (Thursday) at 6pm at the Blaisdell Center Concert Hall.

With both the Jabbawockeez and Kaba Modern making appearances in the Islands the past couple of weeks, I’m looking for Hawaii’s dance scene to be on the come up real soon.
