    “Exit Through The Gift Shop” HAWAII PREMIERE 

    Yes, THAT Film.

    The critically acclaimed Banksy documentary “Exit Through The Gift Shop” will be making it’s Hawaii premiere this Friday night at the Doris Duke Theatre for Friends of Film Friday.

    If you know about this movie, then you KNOW about this movie. The first street art disaster movie, this one is described by Banksy himself as “the story of how one man set out to film the unfilmable. And failed.”  The movie features appearances from Shepard Fairey, Invader, and others.

    The movie premiere goes down this Friday night at the Doris Duke Theatre, starting at 6pm. There’s only ONE showing (730pm) so make sure you get your tickets.

    1st Annual Filipino Film Festival

    Starting this Friday and continuing until the 18th, the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts will present the 1st Annual Filipino Film Festival.

    This festival celebrates independent Filipino Cinema by presenting six of the most-celebrated and highly-awarded films in the last couple of years.

    The opening night is this Friday and will feature 2008 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award winner “100.”  This film chronicles the last three months of a terminally ill woman filling out her Bucket List, doing wht she wants to do and getting closure on her life.

    The opening night has already sold out, but the film is showing two more times on Saturday, April 11th at 1pm and 4pm.

    Planet B-Boy in Hawaii – Limited Engagement 

    Hawaii-born director Benson Lee is bringing back his award winning documentary Planet B-Boy back to Hawaii for a limited engagement at the Doris Duke theatre.

    Benson was here earlier this year to premiere the film to a select few at the Doris Duke Theatre.  ow, he’s bringing it back for a short run, to give Hawaii a taste of what they missed out on.  The film follows four b-boy crews during their preparations for Battle of the Year, the world’s biggest b-boy competition.  The documentary covers crews from Korea, Japan, France and the United States, as they all battle to be the World’s Best Dance Crew.
