    Black Star in Honolulu

One of the most anticipated if not THE most anticipated concert of the year… Black Star reunites in Hawaii.

You know the names… Mos Def. Talib Kweli. Seriously, do you need an explanation or reason to go to this? They rarely perform out (especially Mos) and even more rare is that they perform TOGETHER, so Hawaii is definitely in for a real treat. It’s safe to say that the Waterfront is gonna go OFF during this one.

Add into this Flip The Bird’s Tassho Pearce, Creed Chameleon, and the always awesome Goapele, and you have the makings for the end of Summer FINISHER.  Seriously, what better way to say aloha to Summer 2010 than to do it in style.

This all goes down this FRIDAY night at the Waterfront at Aloha Tower. Doors open at 5pm, show starts at 6pm.

A VERY limited amount of tickets remain for this one, so hit up http://www.bampproject.com to see what’s available.

    Broadcast feat. DIPLO

Tomorrow marks a special edition of BROADCAST featuring the world famous DIPLO bringing his massive beats to the streets of Chinatown. Check him out as he rocks the floor with the dirty dance beats that you know and love from your favorite dinosaur-based DJ.

Along for the ride are the GRLFRNDS, Clones of the Queen, and Cape Cod.  Definitely the place to be for all your hip music needs.

This all goes down TOMORROW NIGHT at Next Door (43 Hotel St.). It’s $25 presale/$30 door for the unders; $20 presale/$25 door for the legals.  Doors open at 8pm, so be there early for best dance floor positioning. Trust me, you’re gonna want the dopest spot there.

    Mayer Hawthorne in concert

The Nocturnal Sound Krew has teamed up with BAMP Project to bring Stones Throw recording artist Mayer Hawthorne to Hawaii.  Mayer has been making moves in the industry since the now iconic heart-shaped vinyl of his track “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out” came out.

This Wednesday, he’ll be performing at Pipeline Cafe.  Along with Mayer, there’s also Brushfire Records (Jack Johnson’s label) own J Radio.  J Radio is actually a side project of  Jack Johnson’s bassist Merlo Podlewski consisting of a large cast of characters such as Del The Funky Homosapian, Mario C (Beastie Boys), Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Jack Johnson, and Kid Koala.

Expect this show to have a ton of surprise guests, so be sure to be there.

The all ages show is this Wednesday night, starting at 7pm at Pipeline Cafe.

Need tickets? You can get them here.

    Brother Ali at Pipeline Cafe

The first big hip-hop concert of 2010 is going down this Friday at Pipeline Cafe.  Brother Ali of Minneapolis’ own Rhymesayers Ent. will be rocking the crowd with that grimey hip-hop.  Alongside of Ali, there’s also performances from Creed Chameleon, Tassho Pearce, T-Qron, Hammer Bros., and Moxxx.

This is a pretty dope show and tons of acts that could headline on their own are all gonna be on one bill.  This is an 18+ show, so even the kids can get down with this show.

Tickets are available now at the Pipeline Cafe box office, Blue Hawaii Surf, UH Campus Center, http://www.groovetickets.com and http://www.bampproject.com

    The OOF! Tour

    l_cefbf075156b4645acd4b17da79e87fb

BAMP Project presents the return of Pacific Northwest favorite Blue Scholars on their “OOF! Tour,” to celebrate the release of their latest EP.

If you remember the last few times they came to Hawaii… they pretty much rocked Next Door into closing temporarily… turned Campus Center into a raging concert hall… and returned to make New Year’s amazing.

Now, fresh off the heels of their latest EP release, dedicated to Hawaii, they’re taking the show all over the islands. Along for the ride are Bambu and Creed Chameleon.

The first show of the OOF! Tour takes place TONIGHT at The Loft. The show is 18+, so definitely it’s safe to bring those who weren’t able to get into the legendary Next Door shows. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are the door, Groove Tickets, or the BAMP website.

    The Opening (Modest Mouse)

6015_101859919824151_100000004294534_54998_6926621_nAfter successfully selecting The Jumpoffs for the opening spot for MGMT, BAMP Project and the Loft are out to find the openers for Modest Mouse on September 9th.

This is an invite only event, so the bands are 1) amazing and 2) hungry for a shot, so you know the competition and the performances will be insane.

Our Distance, Girl Friends, Painted Highways are among some of the bands in contention or this coveted opening spot.

Along with the bands, DJ Touch Bass will be in the mix all night, keeping things moving.

This all goes down this Friday night at the Loft. The show is 21+ and starts at 9pm. For more info, check out BAMP Project.

    Mos Def in Hawaii

_flyer_4x6_mosdef2Dante is back in Hawaii for the first time in a couple of years.  He’ll be returning with some new stuff, some of the classics, but still the same Mighty Mos that you know and love.  Oddly enough, the last time Mos was here was the last time there was an Inertia event thrown by the lightsleepers.

And guess what’s going on this Saturday?

Anyway, tickets for Mos Def can be had at the Pipeline box office or other fine ticket outlets.

The show is this Thursday and now that the kids are out of school, you might want to consider getting there early to find the nice parking.  Might want to consider getting there early anyway because both the Deadbeats and Creed Chameleon will be rocking the stage at Pipeline as well.

I could say more about it, but the DamItsGood guys ALWAYS holds down these dope promo videos for BAMP, so just check the video and get hyped for the show.

    Aesop Rock/El-P/Cage at Pipeline Cafe

    _flyer_4x6_aesop_final

BAMP Project presents DefJux recording artist Aesop Rock, along with El-P, Cage, DJ Big WIZ, Rob Sonic, Mr. Dibbs & TMQ.  Heads from all over the island have been hyped for concert since it’s sudden announcement last November in a random MySpace Bulletin.

Well, the concert has been confirmed and everything is set to go down this Friday night.

But, why waste all this space talking about how dope of a concert this is gonna be, when you can stare at the Dam It’s Good promo video.

This all happens this Friday night at Pipeline Cafe.

Check out BAMP Project for more info and to buy tickets.
