NEW! Fitted Hawaii NALU x KAMEHAMEHA

The Fitted Hawaii Ohana is releasing another new set of stuff to wrap up the Summer and head into the Fall and Winter seasons.

Speaking of Winter, that’s the inspiration of the graphic this week. Titled “Nalu”, this one shouts out the ancestors and innovators of the Sport of Kings, surfing. The passion and bravery of heading out toward monster faces is encapsulated in the bright colors and design of the graphic on this white tee. The back features the Fitted crown in the same color scheme.

Alongside of the shirt, there is a new Kamehameha New Era coming out. The hat features a teal upper, purple brim, and white Kamehameha logo.

As always, quantity is limited, so get yours before it gets got. This releases today at the Kona St. headquarters b

    Crooks and Castles HI

A high profile name in streetwear is opening a flagship store in the heart of Honolulu.

Crooks & Castles, the purveyor of the parody brand tee, is bringing their sense and sensibility to the island by opening up a showroom.  They’ll be bringing all things Crooks and making it a little easier for Hawaii Crooks fans to get their hands on stuff.

The shop will be located at 641 Keeaumoku St., across the street from that monster Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club and just a few steps away from Kicks/HI and Leilow just down the block.

The grand opening is this Friday, September 3rd.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii Saturday releases

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Tons of new stuff just landed in the Fitted Hawaii shop the past couple of days.  First off, there’s a brand new shirt design and hat inspired by Mr. Robert Nesta Marley.  The shirt is derived from his song “Babylon System” and references Bob’s strong political feelings. The hat is a Giants hat rocking the traditional rasta colors.

Next, there’s a new shirt called “Pimpers Paradise” referencing how the beauty of Hawaii needs to be balanced with the gritty, grimey side of Honolulu. Finally, a new PRIDE hat is out rocking the 49ers red and gold/tan.  It’s a good look overall.

All these pieces are available starting TODAY at the Kona St. headquarters.  For more, check out http://www.fittedhawaii.com

    Greek Festival Hawaii 2010

It’s that time of year again: The Greek Festival INVADES Ala Moana Beach Park.

The popular festival is increasing it’s load this year with more food, more entertainment and more Greek than years prior.  The two day event features everything Greek from music, culture, religion, and, of course, FOOD. Look for the atypicalLIVING crew to be scarfing down some gyros and souvlaki while checking out the sights and sounds.

The Festival runs today from 12pm-9pm and Sunday from 12pm-8pm. Be sure to get there early to avoid the rush and to ensure that there’s stuff food. Last year, food ran out kinda quickly, so make sure you get there early. Also, make sure you bring cash because no checks or cards will be accepted. There will be ATM’s on site.

Admission is $3 for adults, free for children 11 and under and active duty military and their families.

    80 Proof

This isn’t a reference to that La Roux song. Apologies if I just got that stuck in your head.

By volume, vodka is 40% alcohol, which translates to 80 Proof. So, to celebrate the Creative Stimuli issue of Contrast (issue #4, for those keeping track) the Contrast family is throwing a combination party in Chinatown. Two venues full of awesome awesomeness.

At thirtyninehotel, there’s a live performance from Alt/Air, Kause and No Evil DJs attacking the 1200s, and Better Brands hosting a vodka tasting from 8-9pm (tying back to the title of the event).

Next door at Next Door is a sonic assault led by Clones of the Queens, Falcon Lord, and Shopping List. Jim Jones destroying the 1200s on this side of the event and the Drop Shadows helping that vodka buzz along with some dope visuals.

This all goes down this Saturday night at thirtyninehotel/Next Door on Hotel St. Event starts at 8pm and I guess I don’t need to tell you that it’s a 21+ thing.

    atypicalLIVING Covers… BE@K is UP

This past Saturday night, street artist BE@K threw a solo art show within the confines of Prototype’s new Ala Moana shop.

To say this was an art show is an understatement. The prolific nature of BE@K was shown as there were pieces EVERYWHERE. The highlight being a glass case in the middle of the store with about 60-70 small pieces arranged throughout the case’s 4 shelves. Throw in some custom munny’s, a collabo with Freelance Clothing’s d.king, and a GRIP of pieces everywhere, this show was aiming for some “Most Pieces Shown At Once” title.

Check out some of the dopeness on the atypicalFLICKR.

To see the rest of the exhibit, swing by the Prototype Ala Moana shop, ground level, next to Cookie Corner, Makai Market, and Centerstage.
