    NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Support Local”

This week’s Fitted Hawaii Tuesday release features something that is near and dear to the hearts of any local entrepreneur: supporting local.

Now, Fitted Hawaii is one of many local brands trying to make it big in the streetwear scene, but by no means are they the only ones putting in work. Big ups to the in4mants, the Sindication crew, Prototype, Kicks/HI, and all other local brands trying to get it in today’s economy.

And that’s the underlying message with this release. Support local brands and keep local money in Hawaii. Support each other instead of trying to bring each other down. This relates also to the shirt release. The phrase SUPPORT LOCAL is spelled out on the front of the shirt using pieces of 12 different local companies. The back features a tonal Fitted Hawaii crown.

Now, as a special bonus, the first person to email the Fitted Hawaii crew (info@fittedhawaii.com) with the 12 companies used in the SUPPORT LOCAL logo will win a shirt of their choice from the shop. You can also enter at the Fitted Hawaii Facebook Page. With all entries, please use SUPPORT LOCAL CONTEST in the subject line.

This drops today at 11am at the Kona St. headquarters. For more info, check out the Fitted Hawaii Website

    Go Skateboarding Day

It’s June 21st, so that means it’s GO SKATEBOARDING DAY!

It’s a day that’s dedicated to everyone celebrating the fun and joy of skateboarding. There’s numerous events happening throughout the country, but the best way to celebrate is to get out there.

So, turn off that XBOX, stop updating your Twitter, and put down that vuvuzela… well, at least AFTER the Spain/Honduras match… and get out there and skate.

For more info on what else is going on during GO SKATEBOARDING DAY, check out http://www.goskateboardingday.org/

    Phone Camera Photo Exhibit

Pardon my excitement, but I’m very stoked to be making this post.

The Koa Gallery at Kapiolani Community College presents the Phone Camera Photo Exhibit at the Lama Library.  This show features original photography, taken EXCLUSIVELY with camera phones. So, take some of Hawaii’s best photographers and have them post up their best photos from their iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Nokia, Motorola, or Samsung phone and see the results.

I’m also very excited because I was personally invited to participate in this show and I do have a couple pieces up.

The exhibit will run from June 21st until August 13th at the Lama Library on the campus of Kapiolani Community College.  The Library’s Summer hours are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm; closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and State and Federal Holidays.

The opening reception is TODAY at 4pm in front of the Library.

    DJ Neil Armstrong at Drama

Tonight at DRAMA at Stage in the Honolulu Design Center, the Almighty 5th Platoon’s own DJ Neil Armstrong will be throwing down a special set. Besides touring the world as Jay-Z’s DJ, Mr. Armstrong has been busy being a global ambassador for adidas. You might have seen him in an adidas World Cup commercial recently hold it down on Dagoba with David Beckham, Noel Gallagher, and Snoop Dogg.

The doors open at 930pm and keeps rocking until 2am. This party is strictly for 21+, so keep the kids at home for this one. Dress code is relaxed for this event.

Big ups to the Architechs, Tantriq, and Vertical Junkies for throwing this awesome event.

NEW! Fitted Hawaii Morning/Day/Night Linen pack + Saturday releases

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This Saturday is another epic release from the Fitted Ohana.  First up is a special three hat set called Morning Day Night.  This features three of Fitted’s signature designs, done up in special linen material. There’s a slamon-red PRIDE hat, representing the morning; a grayish-blue ALOHA (New Era) representing the blue skies and clear waters; and a grayish-purple Kamehameha representing the nightlife that we hold near and dear.

Alongside of these hats are three new shirts: a traditional FITTED logo shirt featuring all three colors from the Morning Day Night pack; a new black tank top with HANA HOU and a reimagined Fitted crown graphic on the back; finally, there’s a new ISOLATION v-neck featuring salmon colored trilocks all over.

These pieces are definitely gonna sell out, so make sure you head over to the Kona St. headquarters and get yours.
