NEW! Fitted Hawaii “On To The Next One”

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This weekend’s Fitted Hawaii release takes it’s cues from one of the greatest of all time, Mr. Shawn Carter.

Even though he’s been making moves, talking about being Young Forever, proclaiming the Death of Autotune, and giving props to the Empire State… the REAL banger from the Third Blueprint is the inspiration of the two products that will be released this Saturday.

First up, you’ll definitely run the town with this ALL BLACK EVERYTHING Kamehameha straw domepiece.  Black Kam embroidery, tonal black straw brim, black crown, and the Tools of the Trade lining on the inside. ALL. BLACK. EVERYTHING.

Next up is the “On To The Next One” shirt, featuring imagery of things that would cause you to keep it moving.  The detailing and the message is blatant and subtle at the same time. Probably one of the more striking graphics from the Fitted Hawaii crew in a long while.

Both these hot pieces will be available this Saturday at the Kona St. headquarters.

    Sideshow at Circus Gallery

the lightsleepers are invading the North Shore.

They’ve been invited by curator Nick Welles of the Circus Gallery in Haleiwa to participate in the North Shore’s Haleiwa Art Walk.  This art walk is similar to Chinatown’s First Friday, so be prepared to check out all of the North Shore’s finest art emporiums opening up their doors and allowing people inside.  But, at the Circus Gallery, the lightsleepers will be bringing some of that Chinatown flavor up north.

Alongside of dope artists (Eukarezt and Philippe Anthony, to name a few), the lightsleeper crew will be bringing along some MCs (NoMasterBacks, Prolific Unknowns, Audible Lab Rats), Vezzen will be bringing some of that grimy MPC action, and an open mic session. Alongside of the goodies, there will also be two new lightsleepers designs to check out.

Told you they were bringing Chinatown to the North Shore.

Make your way up the North and check out the Haleiwa Art Walk.  This all goes down this Saturday (and every last Saturday) from 5pm-11pm.

    Earth Day 2010

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.  This year, there’s tons of initiatives that are going down to help celebrate a day we can help out Mother Earth.  Starting this week, at all target stores, they’re giving away special Earth Day “go green” bags made out of recycled Coke bottles.  Also, many Farmers Markets will be holding down the sustainability theme today.

Also, in what has been almost a tradition, DisneyNature releases the latest in their Nature documentary series with “Oceans,” a look at the 5 major oceans of the world and the animals that inhabit them.  A special donation will be made to the Nature Conservancy to help save coral reefs worldwide.

Do your part and do something this Earth Day. Recycle a can, reduce trash or help clean up a beach.

For more ideas on what you can do, or to find out what others are doing across the globe, check out http://www.earthday.org/

    National Record Store Day

Today is National Record Store Day, so you should celebrate by hitting up two of the dopest record stores on the island: Stylus Honolulu and Hungry Ear.

Stylus Honolulu, the purveyor of recycled clothing and cool music, will be celebrating the day by offering free CDs, free food and drink, a two-for-one sale on all CDs and DVDs. Also, there’s a sale on all new and used records and 20% off all music accessories.

Another dope record shop to check out is Hungry Ear in Kailua.  They’ve been holding it down in Kailua for almost 30 years now and will be dropping exclusive releases on both vinyl and CD.  Which releases are they getting? Well, drop by the shop and find out.

This goes down all day today, so swing by and check out both spots, if you can.  Stylus Honolulu is located in the University Square complex, on the corner of King and University, on the 3rd floor.  Hungry Ear is located at 418 Ku’ulei Road in Kailua.
