Hawaii Food Bank 21st Annual Food Drive and Bake Sale

This Saturday marks two great events for the Hawaii Food Bank.  First up is the 1st Annual Bake for Hunger Bake Sale at the Bishop Museum.  This bake sale will feature baked goodies from throughout the island.  Proceeds from the event go to benefit children who otherwise would go hungry without the help and support of the community.

Also going on is the 21st Annual Food Drive. This is the Food Bank’s largest fundraiser for canned goods and monetary donations.  People will be lined up with nets receiving your donations at various locations throughout the island:

Koko Marina Center; Town Center of Mililani; McCully Shopping Center; Pearl Highlands Shopping Center; Pearl City Shopping Center; Windward City Shopping Center; Waiokeola Congregational Church, Kahala.

The Hawaii Food Bank is the charity of choice for atypicalLIVING, so we would definitely appreciate it if you give either some canned goods or some money to help support the Food Bank.  Everyone deserves a good meal, and we strongly believe in that.  So, if you enjoy the content and coverage we provide here on atypicalLIVING, consider showing your support for the site by showing your support to our favorite charity.

The Bake for Hunger event goes from 9am-2pm at the Bishop Museum.

The Food Drive goes from 8am-4pm at the locations listed above.

This Saturday at Kawaii-Kon, Jon J. Murakami will unleash the latest issue of Gordon Rider, Hawaii’s worse superhero.  Issue #4 will hit the stands at Kawaii-Kon with a special edition cover that is only available at convention. Only 30 of those have been printed and each of the 30 will be individually signed and numbered.

Also releasing is a special edition 5 Year Art Tribute book.  This one will have three covers: green (standard), orange (Kawaii-Kon Special Edition, limited to 30) and the even more limited edition blue hardcover issue.

You can find both Issue #4 and the 5 Year Art Tribute at Kawaii-Kon this weekend.

    Kawaii-Kon 2010

Hawaii’s biggest and baddest anime convention is happening this weekend at the Hawaii Convention Center.

So, if you’re hitting up the mall and you find a bunch of people dressed up and walking around with swords… now you know why.

But, besides the cosplay contest and the annual karaoke contest, there’s a video game tournament and panels on some of the hot button issues in the world of anime.  I’m totally feeling the Gore Effects workshop and how they make injuries look so real.

Also, check out the video game tournament for a big battle on a number of games, including Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6, and Super Smash Bros.

This all goes down this Friday (9am-12am), Saturday (9am-12am), and Sunday (9am-630pm) at the Hawaii Convention Center.
