NEW! Kicks/HI Fall 2009 shirt release

The first of many Fall 2009 releases drop this Saturday at both Kicks/HI locations, Kicks/HI+GUAM and St. Alfred in Chicago.

These two shirts represent the opening salvo for the Kicks/HI Fall 2009 line.  Made up of strong graphics and fashion forward thinking, these shirts are made to be rocked nicely on their own or under a jacket or hoodie.

The basic Kicks/HI script tee gets a nice remix this season with the KH taking center stage.  Available in the KIcks/HI home and away colors, these will compliment nicely to your alreayd expanding wardrobe.

Next is a design from Troy Gomes called “Mysteries of the Universe, Pt.1.”  So, I can only assume this is one of a series of releases on the topic.  A very bold graphic rests upon a white tee, making a statement.

These will be available at all Kicks/HI locations starting this Saturday at 11am.  You can also scoop these up at the Kicks/HI online shop.  For more info or to buy online, check out http://www.KicksHawaii.com

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii HAWAIIANS pack

Another Saturday, another Fitted Hawaii drop.

This new pack is the boldest statement that has come from the Kona St. HQ in a year or so.

Following Jay-Z’s “All Black EVERYTHING” sentiment, this pack comes strong, full of emotion.  First up is the simple, black shirt.  The front reads “HAWAIIANS are the new black” playing off several trends going on: the mad 808-LOVE going on in the world, the fashion world staple of “______ is the new black” and the Supreme sticker bite.  All iconic images and phrases, designed to invoke thought.

Speaking of thoughts and your brain, the second piece of the pack covers just that. Based off of the Lauhala Kamehameha New Era, this new piece features a black weaved crown and a large blacked out Hawaiian flag.  The inside features a satin lining emblazoned with the crest.  Very classy.

    All Black EVERYTHING.

This drops today at 11am at the Kona St. HQ of Fitted Hawaii.  For more, check out http://www.FittedHawaii.com

    Fashionista’s Market “Closet Swap”

This Saturday marks the third annual Closet Swap, a collaborative effort between Fashionista’s Market and Q Laser Center.  This event is a benefit for the Leeward Domestic Abuse Center.

So, how does the closet swap work? Well, you bring your clothes to the Fashionista’s Market shop on Bethel Street and you get a ticket marked with the amount of items you brought in.  Then, on Saturday, you can enter the closet swap and pick up as many new items that you brought in.  It’s a great idea to freshen up your wardrobe and benefit a great cause.

This all goes down this Saturday night at the Luana Hills Country Club in Kailua.  Tickets include a champagne breakfast & entrance into the closet swap.  For more info on the event, check out the Fashionistas at http://www.fashionistasmarket.com

    Looking For The Perfect Beat

After the lightsleepers usher in the next contestant in the Beat Root Grand Championship battle, DJ Bone and the Got Rice? show will be on the hunt for the perfect beat.

This one has slightly different rules, with the first three rounds consisting of an experimental beat, a hard core beat, and a feel good beat.  The top two battle it out from there in a one-on-one, winner take all battle.

This is the hottest beat battle, so bring your heaters.

This all goes down this Friday night at a very special edition of Hip-Hop at the Trops.  So, be down at Tropics Cafe (on Ward, near Dave and Busters) for all the heat.

Props to DJ BONE for making Hawaii’s beat scene step up for another round of battling.

Check out The NEW Got Rice? blog and the new time for the Got Rice? show: Wednesday nights from 9pm-12am on KTUH and http://www.KTUH.org

Soul Saviour Film Festival – Second Showing

The Soul Saviour Film Festival consists of dramas that focus on how average humans are being used by God to save souls. The Film Festival held it’s 2009 edition this past September to a sold out audience at the Ward Theatres.

But, since the buzz was so great, they decided on a second showing of the festival this Sunday at the University of Hawaii’s Spalding Auditorium. Hundreds of people were turned away at the last showing, so this time around, extra seating has been brought in to accommodate the masses. Part of the festival is the the awesome “Nate Browne” by the homies at Shower of Fire Entertainment.

The festival has it’s encore showing this Sunday, October 18th. The films start at 3pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more info on the Film Festival, check out the Facebook event page.
