    The Grouch and Eligh

The Grouch and Eligh. Saturday night. Next Door.

Seriously, that’s all I really need to say.

But, if you need more convincing, there’s also gonna be performances from Tassho Pearce, Moilla Pillas, Creed Chameleon, and Amen. Head lightsleeper Kavet The Catalyst will be holding down hosting duties and the groundUP Pirates will be rocking the live painting steez.

This all goes down this Saturday night, starting at 9pm at Next Door, Chinatown’s home for head-nodding concerts. This is a 21+ show, so leave the kids at home. Tickets are $20.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Hubba Hubba”

The Fitted Hawaii ohana is paying tribute once again to one of the more iconic signs in Chinatown: the neon “Club Hubba Hubba” sign right above Nikki’s Arcade on Hotel Street.

The shirt, is just as iconic, as it’s a black pocket tee with the Fitted crest on the pocket. The back features the Club Hubba Hubba Hawaii logo.

Along with the shirt, there’s a Cooperstown collection Detroit Tigers New Era with a teal logo, orange eyelets and yellow button.

Both of these are available starting Saturday at Fitted Hawaii.

    Turn It Up to 11!

Interisland Terminal teams up with the Consolidated Kahala Theatres to present a series of rock-inspired films this weekend at the “Turn It Up to 11! Rock n Roll Cinema Weekend.”

This weekend will focus on four films, each of which speaks to a different aesthetic of rock culture.

The fun begins on Friday with the Opening Reception and opening night film “Anvil! The Story of Anvil.”

Following that are two whole days of fun rock cinema, culminating on Sunday night with Japanese classic “Electric Dragon 80,000 V,” a story about electricity, reptiles, and Japan. Always a potent combination.

The Rock n Roll Cinema Weekend starts this Friday at 630pm and run through the weekend. All films will be screened at the Consolidated Kahala Theatres.

For more info, check out the Interisland Terminal site.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Cane Fire”

New Fitted Hawaii release this Tuesday.

This shirt celebrates the rich and somewhat controversial history of sugar cane in Hawaii. On the one hand, it was a destructive process that scorched much of the land (much like the current situations in L.A., Molokai and this past weekend’s brush fire in Waipio)

On the other hand, it brought much needed change and progress to the island. Take the good with the bad, I suppose.

This releases tomorrow at the Fitted Hawaii Kona Street Headquarters.

Shouts out and prayers to those affected by the recent fires in L.A., Molokai, and Waipio.

    Rival Schools coverage from @jeannemariepics

For those that didn’t know, atypicalLIVING ran a little art show called “Rival Schools” this past weekend. Now, normally, I’d be the one rocking the coverage tip, but since we were, you know, running the show… coverage was few and far between.

BUT! big UPS to the homie Jeanne Marie for rolling through and flicking up most of the 3-on-3 battle and the highly touted freestyle/any-style battle.

I managed to do photo coverage of our own show, but I’m still working on those shots right now. Look for that later this week, along with an in-depth write-up from the newest member of the Creative Partners: @dainzers

So, check out @jeannemariepics photo coverage of Rival Schools here.

Also, check out Jeanne Marie’s photography here.

NEW! Saint Alfred Late Summer 2009 Release

This Saturday, Kicks/HI Makaloa will debut a small run of Late Summer 2009 graphic tess from Saint Alfred.

The shirts feature classic and inspired graphics from the Midwest. They’re also available in dark colors, perfect for that Fall layering that you’re gonna be doing in the next 3 weeks.  It may be Summer, but it’s never too early to be thinking about the next season.
