A Song For Ourselves
This Thursday night, after Beat Root 3/6, head over to Next Door for a special event to benefit the Chris Iijima Endowment.
The highlight of the night is the Honolulu Premiere of the documentary “A Song For Ourselves” about the life and music of Chris Iijima and how he helped fuel the Asian American Movement.
A panel discussing the film will go down at 4pm, involving the director of the film, Ted Nakamura, Bambu from Native Guns, Chinatown promoter and artist Ara Laylo, among others.
The film premieres at 7pm and Bambu and DJ Phatrick from Native Guns will perform, along with DJ Eskae and special guests.
This all goes down this Thursday, starting at 4pm at Next Door. Tickets for this event and for the special 5:30pm screen at the Richardson Law School are available at the fundraiser’s website.
