    NEW! Kicks/HI “Nuff Respect” shirt

    0520-KH-KAPU-01A

    0520-KH-KAPU-01

The Hawaiian Culture has numerous traditions.  One of the most sacred is the tradition of cultural taboos or “kapu” as they were known.  There were certain things you couldn’t do, such as NO looking at the king, stepping in his shadow, or being touched by his shadow, lest you be penalized with death, destruction and overall bad vibes toward your family.

This was the ultimate sign of respect, something that the Kicks/HI guys have in large supply: respect for the people, respect for the culture and respect for the land.  And they pay their respects to the roiginal culture through this shirt, which features the iconic Kapu sticks of the ancient Hawaiians.  The back of the shirt has “The natives are Restless” graphic with the “Established 2001” tag underneath.

This shirt is available in black, white, or wasabi green colorways and will be available at both the Ward and Makaloa shops, starting this Saturday at 11am.

For more info, check out Kicks Hawaii.

Ho’olako x Aloha New Era from Fitted

Another Saturday, another dope Fitted release.

The shirt release this week takes inspiration from German born artist and Hawaii resident Dietrich Varez. With no formal training, he has created amazing pieces that relate to Hawaiian folklore for years now. Most of his pieces focuses around the goddess Pele, which is the obvious inspiration for this grey shirt. The back of the shirt features the iconic Fitted crown.

Along with the shirt, there is also a new edition to the Aloha collection. This time, it’s the Summer classic New Era snapback. Green panels accented by a purple “Aloha” lined by green stroke, featuring a purple underbill and button. The back of the hat features a green and purple crown.

This one releases this Saturday morning.  Same rules as always: first come, first served; park at Ala Moana if you’re coming early.

For more info, check out the Fitted Hawaii site.
