The boys of Super Handsome Sound will be throwing down an ultra sexy… well, super handsome party this Saturday night at thirtyninehotel.

Delve1der, Jami, $$$olution & Compose will be bringing all the very attractive music to the very attractive and marginally attractive alike.

Think of this as the usual Chinatown dance party, but with an extrememly attractive draw.  A draw of extreme attractiveness.  Feel me?

This all goes down this Saturday night at thirtyninehotel.  Party starts at 9pm and it’s $5 for all the sexy 21+ peoples out there. Keep the unders at home, it’s not a good look.  And this night is all about good looks, on the dancefloor, through the speakers & through the people.

Big ups to the Nocturnal Sound Krew, SuperHandsome DJs & Kicks/HI for making this all possible.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii “K-Street” shirt

Seriously, the 90s are coming back HARD.

This shirt is a prime example of it. Back in the 90s, NHL was supposed to be the big thing. The NBA was failing hard with MJ retiring, the Rockets & Spurs winning titles & Patrick Ewing exerting his efforts to screw up that magical ’99 Spree/Houston Knicks team (and ultimately ending up with Isiah Thomas as a GM.)

And, of course, we can’t talk about 90s NHL, you gotta talk about the Great One… no, not the Rock, but Gretzky.  He single handedly made hockey cool to warm Southern California.  He also made it cool for people south of Toronto to rock an NHL jersey.  Now, no one has a jersey that’s easily rockable (with the exception of one of the best of all time, Martin Brodeur.)

Anyway, the Fitted crew went mad simple with this one, throwing a silver & black Fitted crest on the chest pocket of an all white tee. “K-Street” on the back with the Fitted logo & crown in that LA KINGS bite makes the shirt complete.

Match that with a pinstriped WHITE SOX fitted & you got yourself a 1st class ticket to 1994. Werd.

This drops tomorrow (3/19) at Fitted Hawaii. Go get yours before it gets GOT.

NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Gotta Have Vision” shirt

Another Tuesday, another Fitted Hawaii drop.

This time, the Fitted Ohana is coming with somehting that’s a little odd to the eye.

This shirt features the Fitted logo imprinted on tonal tri-lock patterns, with some of them coming out backwards.

The shirt pocket features the tri-locks, as well as the Fitted crest dead center.

This shirt is simple, easy, yet imaginative all at once.

The all white tee has everything printed in kelly green, PERFECT for this St. Patrick’s Day.

So, put down that pint of Guinness and stumble over to Kona Street and pick a shirt up before you get pinched by someone.

For more info, check out Fitted Hawaii.

The End is NEAR – the work of Aaron K. Yoshino

Swing by the in4mation Boardshop on the second floor of Ward Warehouse this Friday nght for a special art event that holds personal meaning for us here at atypicalLIVING.

Aaron Yoshino aka Honozooloo aka the photographer you see darn near everywhere is holding a solo photo show, displaying work that you probably haven’t seen yet.  I got a little preview of what he had planned for the show and I, for one, am mad excited for it.  This is gonna display the artistry of the photographer and the grittiness of the new Chinatown.  The flyer photo says a lot, but at the same time, says nothing to which the show will be all about.  This is gonna be epic, and the only way to experience it is to get to the in4mation Boardshop this Friday night.

If you still need convincing, the fine folks at Honolulu Myopenbar will be providing FREE Red Stripe and Sake.  I seriously don’t know what else they can do to convince you to go to this show.

“The End is Near” goes down this Friday night from 6-9pm at the in4mation Boardshop, on the second floor of the Ward Warehouse.  Also, if you’re still in the partying mood, the afterparty for the show, featuring Lafa Taylor, will go down at the Loft from 9pm-2am.

Props to Aaron for this one, congrats bro.

B-Ware has just teamed up with Kava Roots for the most delicious t-shirt release this year.

For those of you who know… acai bowls are legit. And, none more legit that the ones at kava Roots on the North Shore.

So, to cement Kava Roots’ reputation as Kings of Acai, the folks at B-Ware are dropping this dope shirt, proclaiming their love for that interesting acai juice with bananas & granola. The purple Brazilian berries, somehow taste mad good.

As a special bonus, not only will there be free kava all night, but each shirt comes along with a free acai bowl coupon.

Nick Vujicic: Without Limbs, Without Limits

This picture is actually an invitation. An invitation for you to check out this amazing man and his inspirational story.  You think you got it rough, Nick Vujicic was born without limbs.

But, instead of wallowing in self-pity and letting that discourage him, he decided to change the world. So, after visiting 19 countries and countless people, he’s decided to make a stop over in Hawaii for a special morning of services.  This Sunday morning, March 15, 2009, Nick Vujicic will be speaking at Grace Bible Church Pearlside at Leeward Community College Theater for three services: 7:30am, 9am, & 1045am.  He’ll share his inspirational story, his life-changing moments, and hopefully inspire you in the process.  I implore any God-fearing person to check this out.

If you’re NOT a Christian, or are seeking a reason to go to church, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to check this out.  Even if you think this is a freakshow and want to see what the big deal is… if that’s what it takes to get you to go, then make that a reason to check it out.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it due to not being able to get off from work, but if you can make it, then by all means, you have three chances.  Make this year the year you make a difference by seeing a man that hasn’t made ANY excuses in his life.

For more info on Nick, check out LifeWithoutLimbs.org

    Pecha Kucha Night v4.0

    Pecha Kucha. WTF is that?!?!?!

Well, for those of you who don’t know, Pecha Kucha is pretty much a speed show and tell for graphic designers, artists, and the like.  It’s a series of 20 images, displayed for 20 seconds each.  So, think of it as a 6 minutes, 40 second barage of imagery from some of Hawaii’s most creative minds.  The images tell a story, and, due to the nature of the time limit, forces the more chatty to speed it up and get through to the next person.

Pecha Kucha (which is Japanese for the sound of conversation) allows the participant to experience the art and design, without having to sit through a boring lecture. It’s fun, fast paced, and allows for an opportunity to network, all at the same time.

This event goes down tonight at the Academy of Art Center at Linekona (1114 Victoria St.).  Doors open at 630pm.  The show is free to the public, though parking might be a problem.  Make sure you get there early enough to get a good spot.

For more info, check out the official Pecha Kucha website.

    The Lost Cause 1.5

It’s a bout time that there’s more art shows on the West Side of the island.

Shauno aka Shaun O’Brien will be throwing another Lost Cause show, this time at the old Ashley furniture building in Waikele.

For those that didn’t go to the first Lost Cause show, this one is a crazy art/photo/music mashup that’s a fundraiser for Compassion International Philippines Missions.  Affecting change and making a difference in this world is what this show and the Missions team is all about.

So, in that vein, the groundUP crew (of which Shauno is a part of) will be providing the art extravaganza and atypicalLIVING’s own @DJ_Enjay will be on the musical selection.  There will also be an ol skool B-Boy battle, facilitated by the main homie, @DDubz.

This all goes down this Saturday night starting at 7pm at Building 12 aka the old Ashley Furniture in Waikele Shopping Center.
