Nick Vujicic: Without Limbs, Without Limits

    hope

This picture is actually an invitation. An invitation for you to check out this amazing man and his inspirational story.  You think you got it rough, Nick Vujicic was born without limbs.

But, instead of wallowing in self-pity and letting that discourage him, he decided to change the world. So, after visiting 19 countries and countless people, he’s decided to make a stop over in Hawaii for a special morning of services.  This Sunday morning, March 15, 2009, Nick Vujicic will be speaking at Grace Bible Church Pearlside at Leeward Community College Theater for three services: 7:30am, 9am, & 1045am.  He’ll share his inspirational story, his life-changing moments, and hopefully inspire you in the process.  I implore any God-fearing person to check this out.

If you’re NOT a Christian, or are seeking a reason to go to church, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to check this out.  Even if you think this is a freakshow and want to see what the big deal is… if that’s what it takes to get you to go, then make that a reason to check it out.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it due to not being able to get off from work, but if you can make it, then by all means, you have three chances.  Make this year the year you make a difference by seeing a man that hasn’t made ANY excuses in his life.

    Pecha Kucha Night v4.0

    pkn_4x6_final2

    Pecha Kucha. WTF is that?!?!?!

Well, for those of you who don’t know, Pecha Kucha is pretty much a speed show and tell for graphic designers, artists, and the like.  It’s a series of 20 images, displayed for 20 seconds each.  So, think of it as a 6 minutes, 40 second barage of imagery from some of Hawaii’s most creative minds.  The images tell a story, and, due to the nature of the time limit, forces the more chatty to speed it up and get through to the next person.

Pecha Kucha (which is Japanese for the sound of conversation) allows the participant to experience the art and design, without having to sit through a boring lecture. It’s fun, fast paced, and allows for an opportunity to network, all at the same time.

This event goes down tonight at the Academy of Art Center at Linekona (1114 Victoria St.).  Doors open at 630pm.  The show is free to the public, though parking might be a problem.  Make sure you get there early enough to get a good spot.

For more info, check out the official Pecha Kucha website.
