Flying Coffin Spring 2009: 5-Panel Preview

    5panel

    Good Monday Morning to y’all.

SURPRISE! Flying Coffin will be dropping a new line of gear for the Spring 2009 season in about a week or so, but Jason goes and surprises us with this teaser of what’s to come.

Already pleased with dropping one of the dopest Fitted pieces in the past couple of years with their FITTED HAWAII collabo, they’re expanding the game and including a 5-panel to their arsenal of gear to put on that lumpy skull of yours.

BUT! Never fear, New Era Nation, as word also has it that the infamous FC BOLTS design might be gracing your heads once again this season.

Be prepared, as we’ll bring you the full Spring 2009 preview in the coming weeks.

But until then, you can catch up on the exploits of Mr. Gomes around the greater Seattle area at Flying Coffin.

RE:LOAD feat. Murder Mainstream at the Loft

    murdermainstream

    Loving the flyer, BTW.

This Friday night there will be a special event presented by the SIQ Records Crew.

Murder Mainstream will be rocking the Loft this Friday night, along with DJ Logue and DJ Packo.  This multimedia musical attack will rock out starting at 10PM for the 21+ crowd.  Expect a night full of hip-hop, electronic dance music, good vibes, and the Loft’s amazingly infamous sushi specials.  It’s SUPER OFFICIAL, for serious.

For a sample of Murder Mainstream, check out the YouTube video here:

    NEW! The Starfish Guy product

Big ups to James aka TSG for the past couple of months he’s had.  He’s been a part of the last groundUP show of 2008 and also he’s fresh off of putting up his work in his very own solo show, Chocolate Love.

Now, he’s bringing all that love to YOU, the consumer, with a whole new line of The Starfish Guy items.  Ranging from plush starfish (definitely a big hit with everyone that’s seen them) to the wooden starfish magnets and the one-of-a-kind spraycans.  Everything you see here is custom built to the exact specifications of The Starfish Guy.

You can snag any of this fresh new stuff over at The Starfish Guy website or swing by and check out his Chocolate Love show at Prototype in Pearlridge Center, which is still up.

    genuineHI: reloaded

    3271417796_9c3440d83e_o

    Just when you thought…

So, I’m checking my email the other day when I run across this message saying to check out genuineHI.com

At first, I thought this was some sick joke.  Jake is in Seattle getting his engineer on and has been way too busy to rock out on some promotions steez.

But, lo and behold, the site is BACK and better than ever.

Now, besides the promotions aspect, Jake is taking to event reporting in the Upper Left, announcing albums and shows for the greater Seattle area.

genuineHI and atypicalLIVING has always been online brothers in a sense: we started up around the same time, blew up around the same time, and went into totally different directions at the same time (Jake moving to Seattle and me coordinating/curating art shows).

But, I’m personally glad to see the return of a long lost brother to the fold.  And the VERY intriguing “we’re planning events in Seattle and Hawaii” line in the EVENTS section is just whetting the appetite to see what Jake the Snake got up his sleeves.

Welcome back, brother, we’ve missed you on the scene.

SO, only one way to find out… and that’s to hit it up this Saturday, starting at 11am.

NEW! Fitted Hawaii x Estate LA “Mathematics” collabo

    math-fasi_sized

Another day, another dope FITTED release.

This week, it’s a new shirt and an ill Estate LA collabo headpiece.

First, the shirt.  Dubbed “Mathematics,” the front of the shirt features a latitude/longitude pattern with the GPS location of Hawaii on the respective lines.  Right on the heart, and pinpointing where Hawaii is, is the Fitted crest.  Home is where the heart is, and so are the homies, so it’s only appropriate that the crest represents Hawaii.

The Estate LA collabo is a remix of the FASI shaka logo from 2007.  The classic logo gets done up on a black denim and tonal hit domepiece. A red underbill sets that color pop and the Estate LA-built piece rests nice and sweet right on the ol’ melon.

Simplicity is the theme with this release, so go get it before it gets got, yah heard?

This all drops this Saturday at 11am, so please kokua and park at Ala Moana and walk across the street if you plan on coming early.

For more, check out FITTED HAWAII.

    The Lofa Below: Asita Recordings.

    rhodeblog

Apparently, there was another entry in the Valentine’s Day mixtape challenge.

Asita Recordings threw their hat into the mix and came back with a list that, although short, is pretty thorough.  Which got me thinking… out of all four lists… NO ONE dropped a Sade piece.  Seriously, I just noticed that now.

Then again, with the amount of love songs out there, it could be over looked.

    Then again, it IS Sade.

Anyway, you can check out Asita Recordings list here. What UP Joe Dub!
