Blue Scholars at Next Door this 1st friday

    blueschol

Big Ups to @honozooloo, @superCW, and @sonecessary for all the info.

So, the Shwayze show scheduled for New Year’s Eve at Pipeline Cafe has been cancelled.

BUT! their special guests are in town to rock the 1st Friday spot the weekend following.

Blue Scholars.  Next Door. First Friday. January 2nd. 21+.  Almost doesn’t even need it’s own copy, does it?

Almost a full six months since they infamously closed down Next Door, Geologic and Sabzi are BACK in Hawaii, bring that Pacific Northwest hip-hop that drove people bananas last time.

It’s $10 to get in, but it’ll be the best $10 you’ve spent on a show in a long time.  And, it’ll be the first show you’ll go to in the new year, so make it count.

For more, check out myneighborsnextdoor.com and bluescholars.com for more info.

NEW! Kicks/HI “Murdered Out Script” New Era

    1230khne01

    1230khne01a

And the first release of 2009 goes to: Kicks Hawaii.

And what a release too, the Murdered Out KH Script piece is on that Beyonce Upgrade U level.  Not Sasha Fierce, no… Upgrade U.  I think that’s the pinnacle of Beyonce right now.  Unless there’s another banger like that on Sasha Fierce… it’s gonna take a lot to knock Upgrade U Beyonce down the top rung of the ladder.

Much like this New Era. All black everything… white New Era logo… classic Kicks/HI orange logo.  ALWAYS a good look.

Go get yours, because I’m getting mine this Saturday at both Ward and Makaloa locations.

    For more, Kicks/HI.

The Future is Grim art show

    Late word about First Friday.

So, The Grimm Image/Los Feo faces crew will be rolling through the halls of Ong King this First Friday with a display of power and imagery that is beyond what you can imagine.

Artists Nabahe, MeatHead, and Fhidel will be putting up some installation canvases, as well as just painting on the walls.  This will be an in-depth expression of their artistic abilities.  Which, in this allegedly stale Hawaii scene, is what we need to start the New Year off with.

So, swing by Ong King this Friday night between 5-9PM and support some new style for the new year.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Exploited” Tee

    exploits_2

The Fitted crew has just one more trick up their sleeves for 2008.  And this one is kinda special.

This release features a redesign of the “Exploited” tee they dropped earlier this year, based off the classic Exploited album cover for “Let’s Start A War.”

So, I guess they’re re-upping this one to appease the masses clamoring for one more shot at one of Fitted’s dope 2008 drops.

Anyway, this one is dropping in a limited size run, so if you want one of these, make sure you go get it.

This shirt is available now at Fitted Hawaii.

    NEW! in4mation License Plate Holders

    Still playing catch-up from Friday.

in4mation just re-upped on license plate holders.  Yeah, you too can speed away from the cops in style with these plate holders.

But , you probably only need one, because somehow, no one sticks a front license plate on their car anymore, relegating it to dashboard duty.  Is that even legal?

Anyway, all colors are available at both in4mation Ward Center & Aloha Army Waikiki.

    NEW! Fitted Hawaii Hoodies

    asd_re_up_hoodie-blog

So, how was your blackout Friday?

Well, we’re still trying to get things back up and running from the food coma that was Christmas at atypicalLIVING headquarters.  Then of course, the blackout hit.  Always unfazed, we trekked on with our powered up Macbook and Hele Wireless card to keep up to date on things.

Anyway, while putting the pieces back together (and figuring out where to spend that Christmas cash) we found out that the Fitted Hawaii crew has re-upped the original and dropped a brand new color of the highly sought after Fitted hoodie.

Go get yours quick, because supplies are HELLA limited.

    Available now at Fitted Hawaii.

    flyer2

This is IT! The final art show of 2008 is being thrown by the hottest art collective in Hawaii right now.

The groundUP Pirates will be taking over another venue and making it packed beyond all legal limits.  This time, the Pirates invade the Loft with their unique mixture of art, fashion, music, and live performances.

In addition to the usual mix of Pirates, DJ Boom Bip, Ekundayo, Ozwego, and Jerrell Conner from LA, and Anton Glamb from NYC add their own special flavor to the mix.

Also, this event is also being promoted as a special Birthday celebration for the Queen of the Bloggies, SuperCW.

This event starts tomorrow at 7PM at the Loft.  Since this is at the Loft, this event is restricted to those 21+, sorry kids.

    christmas-snoopy-lights-tree

We hope you are enjoying your Christmas holiday with Family and Friends, as we here at atypicalLIVING are enjoying it with ours as well.

In fact, currently, I’m updating the site between timeouts during the Lakers/Celtics game.

So, with that in mind, we hope you are having a blessed day and enjoying all that you’ve received today.

But, remember, there are those that are less fortunate that cannot have as awesome a holiday as yourself.  So, if you feel inclined, please donate some money to one of the following charities:

Salvation Army, Hawaii Food Bank, Catholic Charities Hawaii.

Make the holidays brighter for someone else today.

    Merry Christmas everybody.
