808 Urban presents: HiStory
808 Urban is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the urban art scene in Hawaii by providing local youth a place to express themselves artistically through the four elements of hip-hop.
Their first step in this direction is the HiStory event, a six-month series of events that will pare down the potential of the youth into a competition to find out who’s the dopest in Hawaii.
The first event, scheduled for noon today at Palama Settlement on North Vineyard Street, will feature a B-Boy crew battle (8 member max), both a DJ and MC Battle, and a graff battle featuring an assortment of disciplines.
Those under 17 are encouraged to participate and test their skills against their peers.
Entry is $5 for adults, $3 with a flyer and those under 17 are admitted free with a school ID. This is scheduled to run from 12pm-5pm, so there’s plenty of time to get this in and make it to that barbecue you got going on later in the day, or to the Creed Chameleon album release party.
