NEW! Etnies Sal 23 x in4mation shoe release

This Saturday marks the release of the highly anticipated Etnies x in4mation SLB 23 shoe.  The timeless classic of the SLB meets the timeless style of in4mation for a one of a kind shoe that has been burning up the fashion blogs since their first preview at the MAGIC show late last year.

The details are very simple on this one… the classic shoe, redone in action black leather or red suede.  Can’t get any more simple than that.

This one will release at both in4mation locations: Ward Warehouse and Waikiki Beachwalk.  Make sure you’re there early on Saturday, because these will DEFINITELY sell out.

Check out the in4mants for more in4mation.

NEW! Fitted Hawaii “Makini” Hat and Shirt combo Release

Fitted Hawaii has just dropped the details of their long awaited “Makini” Hat and Shirt release.

The hat is based off the legendary “Ikaika” helmet that the elite protectors of the King would wear.  The hat just looks rugged, with the front of the cap representing the eye holes that would be cut into the mask.  The string embroidery represents the kapa and the feather embroidery takes the place of the ‘uki grass.  The hat also features triangle satin lining and a sogan on the underbill that states Pupukahi i holomua, which translates into “Unite to move forward” or, in another way “By working together, we make progress.”

Along with the hat, there are shirts that will be released: a red short sleeve and a white long sleeve.  Both shirts feature the same slogan and feather pattern found on the hat.  The white long sleeve has a tribal tattoo that runs down the length of the sleeve, where the red has the same pattern running from the bototm seam to arm pit.

This combo will sell out, so make your move now. This combo releases next Wednesday, June 11th – Kamehameha Day – at 11am.  You KNOW you got a day off, so make the trek down to Fitted and get yours before it gets got.  Same rules apply: first come, first served; phone orders (if there’s any supply left), taken after 1pm.

For more information, check out Fitted Hawaii.

atypicalLIVING Covers… The (last) Next Movement

This edition of atypicalLIVING Covers… takes a look at the final Next Movement at Next Door.

For the past year, Jake “The Snake” Miyasato has been turning the downtown filmhouse into the mecca for Chinatown hipsters to get their monthly fix of fashion, music, and art.  This event, which sprang forth from Jake’s earlier efforts on the UH-Manoa campus, quickly became the destination for Hawaii’s social elite to see and be seen.  And, we’re sad to see it go.  But, it didn’t go down with a whimper.

The genuineHI crew cranked back and unleashed the magic one last time on the hipsters and socialites alike.  The room began to shake with the sounds of DJ Mr. Nick and DJ Fame.  Then the roof got blown off by the sonic fury of the combined forces of the Perfect Median and DJ Bumblebee.  Then the walls got blown off by the unmistakable flow of EMIRC, with DJ Jimmy Taco kicking down the door.  Finally, the combined efforts of The Street Society and a collective of UH and HCC students brought the house down.

This was definitely an epic event and one that will be missed.  Congrats and GOOD LUCK to Jake as he embarks on his career with Boeing.  Hopefully, he can link up with atypicalLIVING’s Northwest crew and continue to make the Next Movement happen up there.  I know it was said earlier in the event post, but we feel like we’re watching our brother move up and out, since both atypicalLIVING and genuineHI both got started up around the same time.  We’ll miss the homie Jake, but know that… he’ll be back.

Check out all the flicks from the Next Movement (all 230 of them), right here on the atypicalFLICKR.
