Another Saturday, another dope Fitted shirt release.
This Saturday, the shirt in question traces the Fitted crew back to their beginnings of being into skating and hardcore punk. On of the bands that influenced the crew was The Exploited, a UK second wave punk group that was formed in 1979.
Fitted paystribute to this awesome band with a shirt based off one of their album covers. I don’t really follow UK punk all that closely, so I’m guessing the album in question was “Let’s Start A War.”
As far as the shirt is concerned, it features reflective material being used for the skull, as well as glow in the dark material for the teeth and the Fitted crown on the back. Deifnitely another shirt that’s gonna require an explanation, but if you got it off the bat, good for you.
The shirt is available in black or purple and will be on sale today at 11am.
Same rules apply, naturally: first come, first served and no phone orders until after 12pm.
Well, not much copy to write for this one. Everything on the top shelf at Fitted will be sold at 40% off, that includes dope stuff from Rogue Status, Mishka, King Stampede and of course, some fitteds as well.
The sale is from now… until it’s done, I assume.
This Saturday marks a special skate demo by the combined pro riders for DC Shoe Co. and Oakley.
The skate demo, which features pros Danny Way, Colin McKay, Devine Calloway, PJ Ladd, Josh Kalis and Ryan Smith, will take place at 10am at Aloha Tower Marketplace.
There will also be tons of giveaways from Oakley, DC, Volcom, Paul Frank, O’Neill, Nixon, Quicksilver, Roxy, Vans and Pipe Dreams Surf.
The demo goes down this Saturday morning at 10pm, at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. For more info, contact Pipe Dreams at their website here.
This one really doesn’t need too much of a write up here. Kicks/HI will be throwing down a special sale at the Makaloa location. 50%-80% off of select products, so check it out to see if anything you’ve had your eye on pops up in the sale.
This one is probably not gonna be as bananas as the warehouse sale they had after Thanksgiving, but the deals will be just as ridiculous.
Remember, this is only at the Makaloa location. The Ward location will be up and running as well, only if you want to avoid the crowds. The sale starts on Friday, May 30 and keeps going until the end of business on Sunday, June 1.
This one is not to be missed, so make a list and make plans to be at Makaloa this weekend. Remember, first come, first served and all sales are final.
For more info, check out Kicks Hawaii.
Head over to the Chunk and Ape website for this exclusive red colored version of the “Givers” shirt. This one maintains all that you love about the original, just in a bright red color.

This is it. Jake the Snake is retiring at the top of his game.
The Final Edition of the Next movement goes down this Saturday night. For the past couple of years, Jake has always brought in an eclectic mix of music, art and fashion into the Chinatown nightlife scene. And the Next Movement has gotten acclaim from media, both print and blog.
And now, it’s coming to an end. But, before sounding the death knell, Jake the Snake will send out one final salvo as a thank you to everyone that has stepped into the Next Movement. And what a final strike it will be.
The musical guests will span the present and future of Hawaii hip-hop. Headlining the event is the present mogul of Hawaii hip-hop, Tassho Pearce aka EMIRC. Besides being one of the dopest MCs in the state, Tassho is also the creative force behind the Flip The Bird clothing line and has done collaborations with Evidence from Dilated Peoples, DJ Q-Bert, and Run Athletics for the highly publicized FTB x RA collaboration shoe.
Opening for EMIRC is the Future of Hawaii hip-hop, the Perfect Median. Juan P and Grip H will be bringing their melodic soul samples, razor sharp wit, showmanship and style to an eagerly anticipating audience. They’ll be accompanied by the infamous DJ Bumblebee. They already killed the Next Movement once before, and have been on a tear since, releasing leaked track after leaked track, getting Hawaii prepped for the future. And the future is looking bright.
Speaking of the future, the fashion portion of the Next Movement will feature the future: students from the HCC Fashion Department and UH Manoa’s APDM Department will be displaying their work on the Next Movement catwalk. Also on display will be the fashion of The Street Society.
The art for this month will be handled by Hawaii nightlife’s most visible photographer, Honozooloo. What does he have in store for the Next Movement? Swing by the show and find out.
As always, DJ Mr. Nick and DJ Fame will be holding it down.
The Final Next Movement takes flight this Saturday night at Next Door. Doors open at 9pm. $5 presale tickets are available via genuineHI.com, otherwise, it’s $10 at the door.
On a personal note, the atypicalLIVING crew wishes Jake the best of luck on his new endeavors in Seattle. Congrats on the new job and we got peoples in Seattle to link you up with, so you won’t be without a scene for too long. It’s sad to see people leave Hawaii, but it’s awesome to see them move up in the world. Jake/genuineHI started about the same time as we did here at atypicalLIVING, so it feels like we’re losing a sibling in a sense. But, we know that the positive lifestyle that Jake promoted will continue to live on in the scene thanks to the efforts of genuineHI.
It’s not a eulogy, but a celebration. So, swing by Next Door this Saturday nights and live the positive lifestyle one last time with the genuineHI crew. atypicalLIVING will definitely be in the building for this one, so you better be there as well.

It’s the last Friday of the month, so you know what that means: SOUL CLAP.
Eskae’s ongoing monthly dance dance revolution takes over the very epic thirtyninehotel for another all-night dance party and audio assault.
This month, Eskae teams up with Justin from the Kicks/HI crew and the Aloha Fixed crew for a special Soul Clap entitled Critical Mess. This is the afterparty for the Critical mass bike ride happening earlier that night, organized by the Aloha Fixed crew.
Just because it’s a special event doesn’t mean that it’s not gonna be dope. The usual Soul Clap fun is to be had, this time featuring Pacific Sound Outernational, along with the turntable mastery of the Nocturnal Sound Krew.
This 21+ event goes down this Friday night at thirtyninehotel. Doors open at 9pm and you can get on the guestlist by emailing steve@djeskae.com / justin@kickshawaii.com / lyan@alohafixed.com or you can get in free by brining by any Soul Clap flyer.
For more info, check out Aloha Fixed or DJ Eskae.
This Saturday night, as one dope event takes it’s final bow, another begins a new tradition.

On the fashion tip, you can expect styles from La Pistil and Cassandra Rull to grace the runway. Art displays will be provided by Lady Julz, Painted Lemon Photography and Mai Love Photography.
The musical accompaniment will feature a ton of your favorites, headlined by the Future of Hawaii Hip-Hop, the Perfect Median. Also on the docket are 2/3rds of RDSP: Dan Poh and Stutterin’ Stan, Tolua, Joba, Above Reproach, Kurt Onipa’a, Friends of Adam, Dave Tamaoka and Canefield Hero.
Finally, there will be live art going down as well, featuring the likes of Shaun Castro, Jerry, Jay Jay, Niel Norman, Aaron Rideout, Mac, Rap Bisnar, and Ryan Greenley.
