atypicalLIVING’s guide to New Year’s Eve

So, with less than 24 hours left in 2007, the main question becomes:

What the heck am I doing tonight?

Well, we’re here to help the confusion out a bit.

The guaranteed winner will ALWAYS be chillin at home with friends and/or family.

  • The food/drinks are near by
  • You know where the bathrooms and exits are located
  • Fireworks
  • The chances of getting that midnight kiss increases ten-fold (only applicable at the friends party… family party would be too… weird)
  • Fireworks
  • If someone steps on your foot, you wouldn’t have to stomp them out afterwards
  • Don’t have to drive home afterwards… already there
  • Did I mention fireworks?

I know Lofa will be outside lighting things on fire, so there’s no question what option he’s going to take.

I, on the other hand, don’t like lighting things, so fireworks are out of the question.

So, what options are out there? Click below the break.

The other big option available for everyone are the annual Waikiki Fireworks bonanza at midnight. This only works if it is a clear night outside, which, doesn’t look too promising.

The New Year’s events at Aloha Tower are looking pretty promising, even without the foreboding weather forecasts. The Tower always has great local music going on all night long and the proximity of restaurants (all of whom have New Year’s Eve specials) make it a go to destination… if you have the cash for it.

Then, there’s all the various bars and clubs doing their own thing, which are pretty much variations on the same theme.

The one place tha tI know is doing something dope is the always dope Next Door. They’ll be running a special event strictly for New Year’s Eve, featuring the sounds of Ursula 1000. I think this would be your best “I want to be outside, but not ‘outside’ outside” event. $12.50 presale and $25 at the door, unless you spring for the $100 VIP package, which gets you comp pupus and an open bar for a couple of hours. Pretty dope set up, if you ask me.

Either way, no matter what you do tonight, please be safe about it. If you’re gonna drink, bring a DD with you. If you’re gonna stay at home, please try not to blow yourself up. Besides, the biggest game ever is tomorrow afternoon and we’ll have a preview of the matchup as tomorrow’s update. With this post, that will wrap it up for atypicalLIVING in 2007. So…

From our crew to yours, may you have a safe and very Happy New Year. Go Warriors!
