    HAPPY NEW YEAR! FROM atypicalLIVING

For the final post of the year, I’m actually doing this from a secret location (ah, the joys of WordPress).

But, I would be remiss if I didn’t take the time to thank everyone who made 2007 success for atypicalLIVING.  We’ve grown a lot in the past year and there truly are not enough words to express the gratitude that I feel for each and every one of you going out there and supporting the cause.  Most everyone that has supported atypicalLIVING is listed on the side bar there with a link to their respective webpages.

I, personally, am appreciative of every hit I get, every shoutout and link back to atypicalLIVING.  I’m especially thankful for everyone that has taken the time to share the web address or make a myspace bulletin or even copied and pasted content from the site to others.  Just as long as there’s the byline in there with me or Lofa’s name in it, I’m cool.

Finally, I’d like to thank you guys for taking the five minutes out of your day to check out the site.  This is all a labor of love really.  We’re not ad-supported, nor do we ever plan to be ad-supported in the future.  The real support for our site comes from the support you give all the artists.  Their success ensures our success.  When we get press, everyone else gets press in return.  It’s the [aL] business model and we intend to keep the movement going in 2008.

So, to the homies… past, present and future, we thank you 100 times over.  Happy New Year!

atypicalLIVING’s guide to New Year’s Eve

So, with less than 24 hours left in 2007, the main question becomes:

What the heck am I doing tonight?

Well, we’re here to help the confusion out a bit.

The guaranteed winner will ALWAYS be chillin at home with friends and/or family.

    • The food/drinks are near by
    • You know where the bathrooms and exits are located
    • Fireworks
    • The chances of getting that midnight kiss increases ten-fold (only applicable at the friends party… family party would be too… weird)
    • Fireworks
    • If someone steps on your foot, you wouldn’t have to stomp them out afterwards
    • Don’t have to drive home afterwards… already there
    • Did I mention fireworks?

I know Lofa will be outside lighting things on fire, so there’s no question what option he’s going to take.

I, on the other hand, don’t like lighting things, so fireworks are out of the question.

So, what options are out there? Click below the break.

    apb “The Struggle” video

For those of you that missed it this weekend (and, unfortunately, I have to throw myself into this category), the boys from apb just dropped their video “The Struggle” on the skate heads of Hawaii. From all accounts, the premiere was dope and it looks to be a hit.

The one question is… when can you go get it?

Word on the “street” is that the video will be available soon at the shop.

Update: word on the street is now saying sometime mid to late January.  It also appears they will be re-releasing their first video “Midnight Mauraders” as well.

Until then, just keep hitting replay on the youtube player above. Or just reminisce on how dope the premiere was at rRed Elephant.

For more, check out the APB website.

    Valentine’s Day Air Max 95s

    nike-air-max-95-valentines-1.jpg

    flicks: Hypebeast.com

Even though Valentine’s Day isn’t coming up for another month and a half, it’s never too early to start thinking about gifts for that special someone. For the lady that loves all things sneakers, the final episode of Cuneiforms for 2007 will focus on this year’s edition of the Valentine’s Day Air Max from Nike.

This has practically become a staple for Nike to release a shoe for Valentine’s Day. Normally, the shoe would be an Air Max model (usually a 95) and another casual shoe, being a Dunk or Ai Force 1. This year, they went with the retro shoe du jour: The Court Force HI.

The 95 has some interesting details, including the heart pattern on the waves, a heart in between the Air Max 95 logo, and a heart pattern on the sockliner and toecap.

Definitely a refreshing departure from the usually re-based colorway of the Valentine’s Shoe.

So, keep this in mind as you shop for your lady this holiday season… or, for the girls reading… start dropping major hints that this is what you want. Trust me, guys are super thick about stuff like that. The more reminders, the better.

Check out the detailed shots below the break.

    atypicalLIVING Christmas giveaway winners VIDEO

You know, I COULD have just done a list of winners and posted it up on here…

… but you know that’s not how we roll.

So, I actually created a video for it.  I know, right, totally atypicalLIVING.

Anyways, enjoy the video and thanks to everyone for entering the contest.  Even if you didn’t win, you still won my respect for even throwing your names into the hat.

    Literally and Figuratively.

Anyway, thank you guys for the overwhelming support and the amazing response for the contest.  I promise to have even more giveaways in 2008.  Keep your eyes peeled and don’t sleep!
