Farewell to DJ Skid

An era of Hawaii Hip-Hop is coming to an end.

The current Kings of Hawaii Hip-Hop, the AudibleLabRats, will be performing for the final time (in their current incarnation) at a special event at Tropics Cafe this Saturday night.

DJ Skid will be moving to LA to pursue other opportunities and will be leaving behind a legacy of owning the Hawaii scene for the past couple of years.  But, before he goes, the Siq Records fam will send him off properly.

The event will also feature special 30 minute DJ sets from Hawaii’s top DJs, including Revise, Careless1, Packo, Jahson the 45 Revolver and the man himself, DJ Skid.

Plus, who knows what else will go on?

The celebration starts at 930pm and there’s no cover, so everyone over 18 is invited to come down and say thank you to ALR for all that they’ve done for Hawaii’s scene.

SOUL CLAP! This Friday Night

This month’s edition of SOUL CLAP is a special one, as it’s serving as the launch party for the new DORK x Keep-A-Breast collabo sunglasses.

Besides the usual amount of dope music, dope people, and dope atmosphere… the new DORK x K.A.B. glasses will be on sale and ready to rock out.  Featuring a light green and pink two-tone colorway (K.A.B.’s official colors), they will also feature both the DORK and K.A.B. “Boobies!” logo on the interior of the arms.

Only 500 pairs of these glasses will be sold to the public, so if you want to get a dope pair of shades, and a fun way to help support a worthy cause, this is a dope way to do it.

Soul Clap itself will feature the usual suspects: Eskae, Jami, Compose, and Solution of the Nocturnal Sund Krew, with special guest DJ- jim-BROWSKEE.

This is gonna be a dope night.  And you know that the atypicalLIVING/Prolifik crews will be in full effect there.

NEW! Kicks/HI New Era fitteds

These caps had their first appearance in the Summer 2008 lookbook, but now, they’ll be coming out this Friday.

The Kicks/HI caps are always official, but these two are special for their inspirations.  The black/gold is based off the original OG Nike Vandals.  The black/gold is always a classic colorway and can be rocked with pretty much anything.

The white/green/orange is the OG UH colorway.  If you don’t know, now you know.  Big ups to Les Murakami and all the UH baseball legends.  They live on through this fitted.

Both fitteds have the New Era flag on the right side hit and the Kicks/HI logo on the back.

These are available this Friday at both Ward and Makaloa locations.

Fitted Hawaii Tank Tops

Fitted Hawaii, fresh off a string of dope shirt releases, have flipped the game on it’s ear with their latest release.

The Fitted ohana is dropping three new tank tops (yes, tank tops) based off their “Tri-Locks” tee from a while back.  The tank tops come in three different colors: black/blue, blue/white and white/purple.  The Tri-Locks pattern runs up the side and ends up right before the armpit opening on each tank.  The tank is finished off with the Fitted crown adorning the back.

To compliment the drop, they’re also releasing an all-purple Baltimore Orioles fitted.  This is one thing to keep you cooled off during the hot ass Summer months.

As always, the same rules apply: first come, first served; phone orders taken after 12pm.

Kicks/HI x Flip The Bird “Aloha Friday” collabo

With Flip The Bird releasing their new product this week, they also have one more ace up their sleeve.

And here it is.

A special collabo colorway with Kicks/HI of the very ill “Aloha Friday” shirt.  This one is in Kicks/HI white and orange.  On top of that, there’s also the Kicks/HI Established tag on the bottom right of the shirt, making this one an official collaboration.

This shirt drops this Friday at both the Ward and Makaloa locations.

Maui’s finest, Chunk and Ape, have just dropped a collaboration with 80s Purple, making purple variants of their “Hanami” and “Givers II” shirts.  The same dope pattern, just in 80s Purple style.

NEW! Fitted Hawaii shirt and New Eras

Another Saturday, another Fitted drop.

This week’s selection consists of three brand new New Eras and a shirt.

First the New Eras… three new hats enter the building: A Kansas City Royals cap with a light royal blue crown and scarlet brim, Oakland A’s with black crown, brown brim and neon green lettering, and a Dodgers cap with a dark red crown and dark blue logo and brim.

The shirt is a white number featuring a Fitted Hawaii water sports logo, featuring two paddles and an anchor.  Another water sports crest is located on the left chest area.

These are available today at Fitted and, as always, the same rules apply: first come, first served and no phone orders until 12pm.
